My first experience with a cordless string trimmer. The unit itself is sturdy yet lightweight and ergonomic. The edger wheel is a very nice touch and works well. I was a little surprised how effective this string trimmer performed. It cut through weeds a half Inch thick with little effort. While not as powerful as commercial gas trimmers, it has more than enough power for the typical yard. It is light weight, which is a major advantage for me since I'm a senior citizen. It also has a wheel which allows me to run it against my home to get weeds which are growing next to the wall. The price is competitive with Chinese brands and I like spending my money with an American company. The quality is good for a trimmer at this price point. Last, I did have an issue when I thought the extension knob was defective and would not turn. After watching a YouTube video I was able to loosen the lock by applying excessive force. Style: 20V String Trimmer Kit
I have a fairly large area to cover with random spots where weeds grow. I needed something cordless. It was easy to use and light enough. I had new weeds coming out and this was quick. Had to go over medium size weeds a couple of times. Gave 4 stars though cause one of the batteries was faulty. The other battery preformed well for what I needed even when I didn't fully charge it yet. Amazon made it right with the faulty battery and gave me credit to order another one on here. ... show more

I was hesitant about cordless trimmers because I do yard work (as a volunteer) for a cat shelter and can't run out of power before the job is done. But this BLACK+DECKER is just what I needed. It has plenty of power for my light-duty needs, 2-speeds, automatic line feed and the battery yesterday gave me 40 minutes and was still running. This unit is very comfortable to use, has an expandable shaft to set for your height, and does a great job doing what it's supposed to do... cut weeds and grass. PLUS mine came with 2 batteries so I never need run out of power. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ... show more

Style: 20V String Trimmer Kit
I have 2 of these which I use on 2 different properties, several years now. Tool works great and I love the edging feature. You just pull out on the lower half of the shaft, rotate 180 degrees, snap back in. Then roll the trimmer along on its roller wheel as the twine cuts a nice edging line along sidewalks, etc. The batteries vary. A couple work for a LOOong time on a full charge, pretty amazingly so; other batteries, not so much. I have several batteries for each tool, kept charged, so when doing a large job I immediately have a replacement battery at hand when one has run out. [SAME 20 V batteries work in the B+D hedge trimmer tool which is an AMAZING tool. Just be careful to keep both hands ON it whenever it's running!] There is a large button on the handle top for feeding a new length of twine. It appears to barely function. I have to continually stop work, pull the bottom spool cover, work out a length of twine, replace cover, cut the twine to length with pliers (because the metal bar that is supposed to do that is also barely functional, no matter that I sharpen it.) After a time, the spool cover at bottom will break or wear out, so order a replacement or two early. Be SURE to get one that comes with the necessary center spring. The spring from a broken plate can be reused easily, but if it flies off into the unknown when the cover plate breaks, you'll be stuck! So what's to like? The tools work well and I can tolerate all the silly maintenance. I have a corded B+D trimmer that for some reason chews wads of dirt up. Maybe the angles just aren't right for me and it's my fault, but in any case I have no such problem with this tool. The power activation is designed for safety, requires activating several parts of the control at once, with adult hand size and strength, so no small child could activate the tool, BUT it makes it rather hard to activate, and when my right trigger-bar gripping hand starts getting fatigued, I have trouble keeping the trigger lever pulled as far IN as it has to be. Kind of annoying. Oh, each wound spool holds a lot of twine. I pretty much am not thinking about needing to put a fresh one in, over several days' worth of yard work. For 2 trimmers, this being September, I've run them all Spring and Summer on the same spools. ... show more
