This is a pretty powerful little tool. I was initially being cautious what size I was cutting,but my daughter used it and was cutting 3 or 4 inches maybe a little more and it was doing a great job. This was easy to use for pruning branches and even cutting down small stumps. The battery life is awful and I ended up purchasing a second battery which was over $40.
