Review for Neck Brace Cervical Collar for Sleeping - Relief Neck Pain and Neck Support Soft Foam This just arrived today and I am sitting at the computer with it on. Right off I know that I will not be able to sleep with this collar on or wear it at all. I am a very short person and that may be the problem. The top of the band is rubbing the skin under my chin when I am still, more so if I move my head and more so when I look down. The top also digs into my jaw line. If I bend my head to look down, the bottom presses into my collar bones. I read medical reviews of a collar such as this and the doctors all advised not to wear the collar for long periods as the neck muscles will weaken. "Wearing a collar may cause some weakness of the muscles around your neck, as the collar will essentially be doing some of the work of these muscles. However, when you no longer require your collar you will be advised to gradually remove it and you will be provided with an exercise program to strengthen your muscles again." The size choice is the circumference of the neck, not the height of the collar. I will return mine.

I read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. Support is perfect. This is a soft collar, not an immobilizer. If you don't want your neck to move, buy a hard collar made for that. For someone who needs support at night, this works really well. I have a 17.5" neck, and the XL was perfect. It gives good support without feeling choked. When I wake up, I don't have symptoms in my hands. After I take it off, they return. That's how I know it's doing it's job. Well worth the under $20 price.

This neck brace seemed too hard and stuff for me initially. I got used to it and now I sleep quite comfortably. I guess with anything new, it takes getting used to. Sometimes I wish I could wear it all day at work! I have a habit of tensing up my neck and shoulder area but at least I can have some relief at night.

I was having bad nerve pain in my neck and I needed some support to relieve the pressure. I have been wearing this to bed and I am sleeping much better! I was wearing it some during the day but that is not necessary anymore. I also love the removable sleeve that I can wash.
