  • Does exactly what its designed to do
Wished I bought it before the snowstorm. Great item. Easy to put together.

  • Excels at light to moderate snow removal
This review is for the 20" electric, plug-in snow blower. This snowblower is quite easy to use even with heavily gloved hands and does a good job of clearing light to moderate amounts of snow. I used it clear off about 6” of fresh fallen snow and it didn’t skip a beat. It does not throw snow as far as advertised and I found that by starting in the middle of our standard two-car width driveway and working my way outward, the unit would throw enough of the snow off of the sides of the driveway that I could clear the last three feet from the edges by pushing straight into the snow, throwing the snow in line with the thrower but far enough away that it wouldn’t get picked up again. Throughout the cleaning, the auger didn’t run into any issue picking up snow and I never experienced a clog despite definitely seeing not-snow come out of the chute on more than one occasion. It will blow a 15 amp circuit if overwhelmed which is inconvenient and it would be nice if there was a cutoff built into the machine to prevent this. As a result of this, I use a loose rule of 2/3rds where I never feed the machine more than 2/3 of what it is rated for both in depth and width to avoid this. The unit is very light which is a double edged sword. It is very easy to move and lift however requires a bit more effort to keep the front down and I find myself pulling up lightly on the rear handle to lever the front down and keep contact with the driveway otherwise the machine stops cleaning as well. This unit is primarily made of plastic and seems to be made well enough go that I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect several seasons of use. The going rate here for driveway cleaning by riving teenagers is $40 now so this unit will pay for itself very quickly. For reference, the raised garden beds that are peeking out of the snow on the left side of the driveway are 12” tall. ... show more

  • Pleasant surprise for day‑to‑day driveway and walkway clearing.
This BILT HARD 20‑inch electric snow blower has been a pleasant surprise for day‑to‑day driveway and walkway clearing. The 20‑inch clearing width and roughly 10‑inch intake height make it feel substantial enough for a standard two‑car driveway without being bulky or hard to handle. It’s light and easy to push, so you’re not fighting the machine the whole time, but the 15 Amp motor still throws snow with enough force that you can see a clean path behind you with each pass. The reinforced 2‑blade auger grabs the snow and feeds it into the chute smoothly, which really helps when you’re dealing with that slightly packed snow from wind or from people walking on it. The dual LED headlights are a standout feature if you ever clear snow before sunrise or after work. They cast a bright, focused light right in front of the blower so you can clearly see the edges of the driveway, uneven spots, or leftover patches of ice instead of guessing in the dark. Being corded does mean you have to think about your pattern a little; I found that starting closest to the outlet and working my way outward, keeping the cord over one shoulder or hand, makes it feel a lot like vacuuming the driveway. Once you get that routine down, the cord becomes more of a mild inconvenience than a true hassle. Performance‑wise, it handles light to moderate snow (around 4–6 inches) very well, cutting a neat path and tossing the snow far enough off to the side that you’re not constantly re‑chewing the same pile. It can tackle deeper or more compacted snow if you slow down and take partial passes, and it does better than I expected at the plow ridge at the end of the driveway as long as you don’t try to feed it the full height all at once. Because it’s electric, it’s quieter than a gas machine, starts instantly with a switch, and you never have to worry about gas, oil changes, or pull‑starts in freezing weather. The chute rotation control lets you spin the discharge a full 180°, which is great for directing snow away from cars, walkways, or your neighbor’s yard. You can also adjust the deflector to change how high or low the snow is thrown, which helps reduce blow‑back on windy days, though that adjustment is manual rather than on‑the‑fly. The build feels sturdy for an electric unit: the housing and handle have enough rigidity that it doesn’t feel flimsy, and the wheels roll easily over typical driveway cracks and bumps. Overall, this is a very practical, low‑maintenance snow blower for people who see regular light to moderate storms and want something that plugs in, clears the drive, and stores easily without all the upkeep of gas equipment. It’s not meant to replace a heavy‑duty two‑stage gas blower for constant deep, wet snow, but for everyday residential use it does exactly what it promises and makes winter mornings a lot less work. ... show more

  • Best suited to smaller properties where being limited by an extension cord isn't a problem
I got this snow blower after our gas powered one blew a spark plug that stripped the threading and made it unusable. There are some plusses and minuses to to Bilt Hard snow blower. A positive is it is not as heavy or hard to maneuver as our old gas powered one. It's also easier to get it up and running than the gas powered machines. A major con to this snow blower is you are limited in how far you can go with this by a cord. [As as side note, I think I would like this better if it was battery operated and I could just swap out batteries as needed.] Typically when it snows we remove the snow from our drive way, walking paths and sidewalks as well as clearing our elderly neighbors' drive and side walks. With this machine we are limited to clearing our driveway and only some of our sidewalks. I do like that this has two bright headlights which is handy for when we have to clear snow in the dark. It can toss snow a decent distance to hit the lawn and changing the direction in which the snow is being thrown isn't difficult. I personally do not like that the blades for removing the snow are plastic. I worry that they will break if we get a heavy wet or particularly icy snowfall. It has done ok with lighter snow, but we have not yet had any heavy snow fall that we could see how this handles it. On light snow this moves quickly through it. I feel for our present situation this is decent to have on hand, but my husband and I both feel we need something a bit more powerful before we have a bad storm. However, for the price point, this snowblower is not a bad deal. It is better and more powerful than the little hand held battery operated snow shovel that I use for clearing a path in the back yard for my dogs. I think if you have a smaller property or can't manage a big heavy snow blower this is not a bad option. This snow blower would actually be really great if you live in a townhome setting where you only have a driveway and a little bit of sidewalk to clear. ... show more
