This item is quite hard to put together in spite of instructions. I need utube videos to to do it. the cotter pins were especially hard. The delivery was a disaster, as it was delivered to block the only driveway at 630 pm ;about 300 feets from the garage. Cotter hair pins were missing and the owners manual was misssing. ... show more

….after using 5 times in 2 winters, screw on friction disc worked itself out, auger belt lost friction auger belt was also too long for that blower. Operators manual is very sloppy and missing info about parts. wheel pins???? I will never ever buy Ariens product!!!!

    • Better than comparable TORO
It is hard to understand how the comparable TORO model rates better than this. This Ariens has more features and runs like a Swiss watch, handles fairly heavy jobs with ease. This Compact unit is apparently being discontinued by Ariens in favor of the Classic and Delux, both higher priced. The Compact has a slightly bigger engine (223cc vs. 200cc) than either the Classic or Delux, which throws snow a little further. I happened to be lucky to find one remaining new Compact at half the price. I have Had other Ariens Snow blowers in the past and happy that I chose to stick with it. One memorable machine was a 36" that was 42 years old and still worked hard. ... show more
