The Torin BIG RED TR6501B ratcheting off-road/utility farm jack is ideal for any application that deals with lifting, pulling, clamping, winching, and spreading. This 48" jack has a lifting range of 5.12" to 40" and a 3 ton (6,000 lb) load capacity. Multi-directional jack is lightweight and designed to be used vertically and horizontally. The rubberized grip on the handle provides comfort and a better hold. An adjustable top clamp clevis can be moved to any position for clamping purposes. Great for off-road and rough environments, farm-related applications, and as an emergency fire and rescue tool. The fast lifting mechanism ensures lifting speed and safety. A thick, wide base delivers added stability. The Torin ratcheting off-road/utility farm jack has a rust-resistant, powder coated finish with zinc-plated hardware. The Look is rugged. With the jack features, it does what it was intended and more. I worked with it for a week to pull 50 cedar fence posts from the wet ground with ease. As far as, Rust resistance I have have yet to see any develop. The jack weight is heavy duty don't expect to be carrying this around. The casting and mechanisms aren’t as precise as my fifty year old farm jack which is essentially the same as this. My old workhorse was starting to wear from years of use so I felt it was time to replace it. I picked this up to save a few $s over the Hi-Lift and to save a trip to Harbor Freights. I've cut some bushes down and need this to pull a few small to medium stumps. I've built a tripod to help stabilize it...thanks to the guys who posted the details. For the first 3 stumps, it worked great! While removing the 4th one, the jack bent, these are rated for 3 tons...go figure. I had a bunch more to go, so I figured I could manage it since I didn't want to wait for another weekend. While on the 5 one, the jack keep popping out from the "up" mode. Now this was getting frustrating. By the time I've pulled the 5th stump out, it died. It would go up nor down. Man! I'll complete the stumps later, but it would be really p'd if I was stuck in the middle of nowhere and this happened. I have a much larger capacity model high lift/Farm jack purchased at Northern Tool. This one so far appears to be better made than it's big brother. The other broke the first time it was used but was repairable and is back in service. This one appears to not have the same weaknesses as the other one and I will definitely recommend this one. If you don't have this style jack you should get one they are extremely useful and versatile. I'm using both of mine around a Homestead and find lots of tasks for them. ... show more
