Wanted a cheaper 2.5 ton jack to do the occasional car lifting and this fit the bill perfectly. Lifts well, and easy to turn the release gently to slowly lower your car. Only weird thing is an annoying black metal cover that just falls off over and over. Don't know if I need it or not.

When first taking the jack out of the case, a loose 6” long rod extended down from the jack, on closer inspection I saw that it should have been attached to a short stub on the jack frame with a snap-ring slot. I found the snap ring in the case, then had to find my 90 degree snap-ring pliers, and then spent the next 15 minutes trying to slip that snap ring past a spring and into place, only to have it fall off again 10 minutes later when I moved the jack! So, that was disappointing for a new item, but I had a job to finish, I had to lift a car to put all 4 tires on some car dollies. This jack is rated at 3,000 lbs., the whole car weighs 3500, so none of the 4 corners of the car should have exceeded 1,500 lbs. but this jack was straining at each corner. But the problem that concerned me the most was the fact that it is impossible to slowly lower a car with this jack! The first time I tried it, it scared the hell out of me! The car came down so quickly it bounced on its struts and nearly smashed my arm! After that I careful to keep my arm away from potential pinch points, but I had 7 more opportunities to try to slowly finesse the jack into lowering more gradually, but try as I might, the best results I could get still dropped that car like a rock! I read a few other reviews mentioning the same issue, so apparently it’s a design flaw, not a defect. I’m guessing that higher quality floor jacks may use finer threads in the release valve to allow a more gradual release and a slower descent, but this flaw makes this jack dangerous to use! ... show more
