I picked up the VDIAGTOOL VD80 BT to replace my VD70, only because I wanted the ability to connect wirelessly. The VD70 has been a great tool and I don't expect any less from this new device. It has bidirectional control so you can test all sorts of things in the vehicle just by simply pressing a few buttons. You can trigger components and pinpoint faults with ease. It scans every module and the topology mapping makes it super easy to see where the problem is. The scan tool is fast, and the Bluetooth range is quite good, allowing me to move around the vehicle while running tests. It has a lot more service functions than I need, but that is nice for when I am helping out a friend or family member with their vehicle and it has saved me a ton of money by avoiding the "stealership". The wireless Bluetooth dongle makes working around or under the car very nice compared to the VD70, No wires getting in your way makes a noticeable difference. USB-C charging port is pretty standard on most devices today which makes this very convenient when you need to charge it up compared to proprietary ports like some other scanners. You also get 3 years of software updates included in the purchase price. The screen is a little bigger on the VD80 compared to the VD70, which is really nice. Overall this is a very solid well made device, just like the VD70 and I expect it will serve me well for many years to come. ... show more

    • Solid scanner with accurate data and great build quality
The scanner feels really well made. It's got some good weight to it without being too heavy, and the size is just right. It comes with a nice hard case that should keep it protected when I'm moving it around. The software is pretty easy to figure out. I'm a trained diesel mechanic and now also run multiple IT companies, so I'm pretty comfortable with both the vehicle and technical side of these tools. The interface is well laid out and intuitive. What I really like is how fast it connects and reads the vehicle codes. I've used some cheaper scanners before that just crawl along, but this one is quick. One thing I noticed right away is they seem to be constantly updating the software. I've seen updates every few days which is a good sign they're keeping up with newer vehicles and fixing any bugs. The data it pulls is not only complete but accurate, which is really important when you're trying to diagnose issues. Definitely paying for itself already. I've already used it on a few different vehicles and it has saved myself on my vehicles and my friends/customers a lot of time and money. Now for a couple small things. There's no SD card slot, which I knew going in so not really a complaint. The kickstand on the back doesn't really grip the steering wheel that great, but it's not a huge deal. Since it runs on Android I wish I could mess with some of the browser settings or add a few apps, but I get why they keep it locked down. Probably keeps people from messing things up or filling up the storage. Overall I'm really pleased with it. Does what it's supposed to do and does it well. Great scan tool. Easy to use and comes with 3 years of free software updates and you get to keep the special features when its done?!! unlike others that you need a monthly or yearly plan in order to continue using it, yea, hated that and that's why I decided to give this a try. I like that it looks like its a heavy duty tablet that uses a wireless dongle and this way you can scan your car from the outside and not have to worry about cords being in your way or being too short and having to reach down to see. Its a great value for your money and has alot of the special features that you need to check, test and reset many components of your car. You can reset your check engine lights as well as program new parts to your cars, (newer cars usually need programing when you replace a part or a sensor). This tool does the job at programing it to your car and it is easy to use. It also connects to the internet (if you connect to your Wi-Fi) for updates and when you find a code that you don't know much about and you need more information on it. The topology feature is awesome because it shows you a map of the sensors that communicate with your car. There is even a feature where it communicates with your car radio to see if there is a problem with it, ( I was playing around with it just for fun.. lol). Great for the regular guy who wants to figure out what is wrong with your car, why that annoying light is on your dash that tells you to check your engine. Works on hybrid for when you need to reset the oil light, or you need to start your electric water pump when you need to bleed the air out of your hybrid car (if it has that feature, usually newer vehicles). . It has live data for those who want to see what your car is doing while its on. Every car is different and some seem to have more features than others. Still trying to figure out what each feature does but so far, I'm very happy with it. ... show more

I finally picked up the VDIAGTOOL VD80 BT and it’s honestly been a lifesaver for my diagnostic work. The bidirectional control is the real deal; I was able to trigger components and pinpoint faults in minutes that usually take me hours of probing. It scans every single module and the topology mapping makes it incredibly easy to see exactly where a communication break is happening. The tablet itself is fast, rugged, and the Bluetooth range is solid enough that I can move around the vehicle while running active tests. It has more service functions than I'll probably ever need, but it's already saved me a ton of money by avoiding the dealership. Product was not much better than a $50 scan tool. I have tried this on 4 different makes of cars and trucks. Not one of them would read the vin. Then you have to manually enter the vin which st that time you would think it would take you right into your exact car….nope it then comes up with list of cars which you then have to try and decipher which vehicle is yours from my list of vehicles listed with a bunch of code numbers that you would have no clue which one is your actual car. Once picking a vehicle out of the loose, which I wasn’t even sure if that was my vehicle you try to use this code scanner and a lot of the functions come up, saying that they are not supported . This thing to me just seems like a cheap $50 scanner was a bunch of things they’ve put on a screen. I don’t actually work with the cars. It felt very slow using the AI function to look things up felt very slow initially, turning on getting to your home screen And a lot of times I would get a spinning wheel of death and not do anything at all. I would not recommend this code scanner and especially for the price they’re charging for it. It is not worth the money and then if we get into the tech-support side of it which I’ve read in other reviews, people have said it’s very good. That is not the case They constantly send you emails back trying to get you to send them more information. That is just pointless useless information when they’ve been very point blank questions asked from the beginning. I was even asked to send them a video of what was on the screen when it simply said something was not supported, and I typed that out Word for Word of what was on the screen they still asked for a video to be sent to them of that? What’s the purpose just one more way for the customer service to blow you off Said they sent a response but actually did nothing in regards to fixing a problem. I also sent my VIN number into customer service to have the VIN number checked, and I asked if they could supply a list of the bidirectional functions that this scanner would do with my VIN they could not provide that Which is kind of crazy to think they built the system in the scanner. As a former dealership technician with over 20 years of experience and now working as an independent inspector handling pre-/post-purchase inspections and extended warranty inspections, having a reliable, fast, and versatile diagnostic scanner is a must for me. After using it for about a month, This scanner has impressed me in many ways. First Impressions: The unit immediately stands out for its fast boot-up speed. Compared to other scanners in a similar price range, this one powers on quicker, saving me time on the job. The build quality and overall feel are also premium, giving me confidence that it can handle daily professional use. Performance in the Field: I successfully used this scanner for a BMW battery registration, and the process was smooth and quick. On multiple Nissan vehicles, I performed and completed idle air volume relearn without any issues. Past month, I’ve scanned around 20+ vehicles of various makes/models, and this scanner connected and read data from every one of them without any issues. Favorite Features: The wireless Bluetooth dongle makes working under the car or when the DLC connector is out of reach. No wires dangling around makes a night and day difference. The data list graphing is crisp and clear and responsive. USB-C charging port is mainstream compared to propitiatory ports like some other scanners. 3 years of software updates included in the purchase price. The operating system and interface feel very similar to my Xtool scanner, which makes the transition seamless. FYI - I also owned 2 Xtool OBD Scanners as well. Areas for Improvement (Future Updates/Models): I wish the dongle comes with a built-in LED and battery voltage reading display. An adjustable kickstand instead of a fixed one would improve usability in different work environments, maybe adding a hook to the unit as well to safely mount the scanner either on the window glass or steering wheel. A bigger/brighter (higher nits) display would be extremely helpful when viewing multiple graphs or working outdoors. A custom data list sorting option (by name) would make data navigation more efficient. The USB port’s rubber plug could be made more durable for long-term use. Overall: For inspectors and auto technicians who need good performance across a wide range of vehicles, this scanner offers great value. With a few small refinements, it could easily be one of the best mid-range diagnostic tools on the market. I would say this scanner is good bang for your buck! ... show more

I been a mechanic for 20 years, I wish I had bought this scan tool sooner. Topology is a must have, it gives you a better understanding on how modules are talking to each other. The updates are good, every time I used it I have to update it which is good and does not takes long. This tool has allowed me to diagnose and fix cars so much faster and efficiently. I was working on Denali yesterday without codes... if it was not for the live date I would be throwing parts and guessing what was wrong with it.... the scan tool pointed me to the right cylinders and I was able to pinpoint to the injectors. I have done power balance, HVAC programming, crankshaft relearning. with the bidirectional capability I been able to check actuators, motors, switches, without having to take anything apart. The accuracy on the values are surprisingly close. In conclusion, just buy it... it will save you so much time and make you a lot mor money. ... show more
