I guess you can tell that I love my 3 cup Moka Pot. The instructions state that you should boil 3 pots worth of water and 3 cups with coffee before even drinking a cup I highly recommend this process because it will do a few things: 1) you’ll work out your work flow 2) it will “season” your moka pot For a 3 cup moka pot, you’ll need just a tad over 12 grams of beans. That is if you’re grinding your own beans. Tap the funnel to level out the grounds and off you go I didn’t use a paper filter. I used the E&B metal filter, which did a wonderful job by the way, of filtering out the grounds that might bypass the original metal filter I used a metal plate over my gas stove on medium heat. I feel this helped distribute the heat more evenly Within a few minutes, the moka pot was making that welcomed sound and I can see coffee coming out of the chimney. There was a slight lull just before it began to sputter and the coffee went a lighter in color and sputtered At that point I took it off the heat and ran the bottom half under the faucet to cool it off I may need to play with grind size a bit more, but I think I’ve got it very close. I’ll need to experiment a bit more and see, but my first “cup” was quite good Btw, I’m using a dark roast. Costco Kirkland brand of French Roast I’ve even added some foamed milk using the Nano Foamer. Great little device, which I’ll review in a bit All in all, I’m very happy with my little 3 cup moka pot. One thing you may consider using is a couple of hand towels, because the moka pot does get a bit hot to the touch even after holding it under the faucet Cleanup is straightforward too. Just be aware that it is hot. Just rinse and wipe clean and dry thoroughly to avoid water spots and tarnishing the aluminum Otherwise I love this coffee making process UPDATE: 1-17-2025 Although, I absolutely love my 3 cup Moka Pot, I’ve recently purchased the 1 cup Moka Pot version. Why? I figured there’s going to be a point when A) I’ve got a small amount of beans leftover, B) I’m home all day and don’t want to drink a large amount of coffee in one sitting and I can make another one because I enjoy the process of making coffee, C) It’s a nice way of experimenting with grind size and beans without wasting a bunch of beans This is basically for home use even though it’s the smallest and arguably the most transportable to work. However, due to the nature of my job, I can’t take timeout during my day to make another 1 cup of coffee. So that’s where the 3 cup moka pot comes in If you get over the minuscule size, it’s actually a pretty neat little Moka Pot. It’s very toy like, but it still makes great coffee, just in a 1 cup size. I mean the espresso guys drink that same amount with hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars worth of equipment. True, this isn’t actual espresso, but it’s close enough for me. And really it’s all about the taste isn’t it? Also, I’ve used this smaller Moka Pot to try out the paper filters that some have raved about. I’m not sure I’m good enough to taste the difference. However, with the dark roasts it’s a tad, I mean a very small difference for me between paper filters and without. Also, I wet the paper with a RDT spray to help it stick I guess. Also, I grind a bit coarser since the paper is going to add resistance to the flow of water - there’s a slight increase in pressure enough so that it slightly pushed in my metal filter in the Moka Pot. Nothing serious. Just grind a little coarser. How much coarser? Different beans and roast levels means different grind size. You’re going to play with that. And that is where the 1 cup Moka Pot comes in handy I bought a 6 cup Moka Pot too. That’s whenever I might have guests over. Have fun and I hope you enjoy your Moka Pot as much as I do!

Put off dropping $100 on a 12 cup because thought it was hard to justify the expense but pounced when it dropped to $80. Still expensive for the simplicity of the product but worth every penny if you're a coffee snob. Yes, it's made in Romania. They probably all are now. Leave it to even the Italians to outsource labor. Either way, phenomenal product that outdoes all the knockoffs including the 12 cup I bought off Amazon for <$30. Never overflows like my old one and never drips from the spout when pouring no matter what angle. And I've tried to make it drip. Screws on easily without a fireproof glove if using boiled water, which is still the best option irrespective of what Bialetti says. Cleans easily with just water and your finger. I use an XL aero press filter and that helps to keep the grounds intact the and water flowing smoothly without spurting. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and it just goes to prove that sometimes it's better to spend for a quality product. Understand there are some quality control issues with this product based on reviews so I made sure to inspect carefully before using and ran a few cycles of water through it before using without issue.

The OG stovetop coffee maker. To start, a little misleading to say espresso maker because this lacks the pressure normally needed to make espresso, and the grind level used is different. Best to think of this as highly concentrated coffee that you can either drink a small amount of straight up that's very strong, or something you can dilute with hot water to make a regular strength cup. The pot itself feels of good quality, being all metal. Very easy to use and clean when done. It's also fairly light weight and can work on most stovetops. Overall, I have no complaints with the performance, and it makes rich and flavorful coffee. One negative I found, and this is the reason for dropping to four stars: The plastic on the handle does not do a good job of dissipating heat from the pot, making it uncomfortably hot to handle when you're taking it off the stove. If they fix this issue, it would be perfection.

Perfect brew capacity for 2 people or 1 person who likes two strong lattes throughout the day (me). Easy to use, timeless Italian design and quality. This is one of those products you know will last you a lifetime, it's just up to you to use it. The coffee quality out of this maker is FANTASTIC. Almost espresso like, but certainly a higher water to coffee ratio. Perfect straight, with a little sugar, and most milk based coffee drinks. For true beginners, the coffee quality may take a little time to dial in unless you've done some research (~30g of beans). I use mine on a gas stove, which is ideal for quickly adjusting temperatures during brewing. But an electric stove will also work. From start to pour, it takes 20 minutes at most, if starting with cold water, to make coffee with this 6 cup Moka. Perfect for those seeking a slower coffee ritual with excellent coffee quality, durability, simplicity, and sustainability. Side Note: Please don't be one of those people who only clean their Moka pot with water. Coffee oils and grime do accumulate in the top collection cup and middle filter cup. I clean mine once a week with dish soap and a soft sponge (Only with everyday use). I also ensure to remove the rubber gasket on the bottom of the collection cup and clean there too. Finally after each use and rinse, I make sure to immediately dry all components of the pot. Following this routine will prevent rancid oil from building up and overall dirty looking pot.

I’m not a regular coffee drinker, so I don’t own a large coffee maker. But when I need espresso for desserts, protein shakes, or martinis, this Bialetti is perfect. It makes excellent espresso and stores easily in a small space. Keep in mind that a 6-cup Bialetti makes six espresso-sized cups. It’s sturdy and a good value, as long as you keep it centered over the burner. A word of caution: I used mine on a medium burner, and because part of the handle sat over the exposed flame, the tip melted. Lesson learned.
