  • A Gem!
I've had the Benq V7050i for a week so far and am blown away with its design. Setup was simple as I found a 2-inch high wood platform that I placed on a table to hold the projector. Then I used the adjustable feet to zoom into the proper placement of the projector. My screen is not a CLR type but one I purchased about 20 years ago, and has a high brightness level. The quality of my picture was excellent but I saw a huge amount of reflected light on my ceiling (this is one reason for CLR screens). I placed 12 sheets of black book board paper above the screen facing outward. This provided shade to eliminate much of the reflected light and gave me a very nice setup. The projector is fed by a Marantz SR7015 receiver attached to an Nvidia Shield TV Pro. This is better than an Apple TV 4K as it manages audio formats more effectively with regard to movie sound tracks. I tested the Benq smart TV dongle that comes with the projector and found nothing I needed as the Nvidia did everything better. The dongle is Wi-Fi only so no support for high-bitrate media files. Maybe I'll use it with an old monitor someday. I had some minor challenges trying to understand the projector's power settings but got my preferences satisfied through experimentation. In my case it needs to be powered off separately from the rest of the system so the unit can be cooled properly at shutdown. My media room is dark and has a door that I used to keep closed to keep hallway light out of my theater space. The new projector has more power to light the screen even with light behind me so I can keep the door open to cool the room. Like my previous Epson 3010e projector, the Benq heats up the room quite a bit. Another plus! The large remote that accompanies the projector is highly functional and I only use it to power on/off the projector. It controls all setup functions as well. I set the Nvidia Shield TV Pro to use its "AI upscale" to 4K 24 frames per second for all media and it does an amazing job with the Benq. Color depth is excellent and brightness levels are perfect. I'm not a gamer, so no feedback here, but it's generally known that this Benq is not recommended for gamers. I've had no issues with any video content (I use Plex to manage my media). A huge upgrade for me was HDR support that was not available with my Epson 3010e. HDR movies shown on that projector had awful colors and distorted images. No longer the case with the BenQ V7050i which does a great job with HDR content. 3D movies are stunning with this projector! Color depth is quite good and overall experience was excellent. This unit does not display 4K movies in 3D format correctly, if at all (see last page of User Manual). I tried one with no avail. A final plus is that the fan noise is now at the front of the room away from my ears. The Epson 3010e was ceiling mounted, right above my head and the noise was always an issue. This is no longer the case! Bottom line: I'm very pleased with the BenQ V7050i and look forward to many years of great movie watching! UPDATE: October 2025. I still am enjoying this lovely box that shows me great video every time! ... show more

  • Refurbished Quality
While it lasted the projector was decent but then it showed signs of defectiveness. A white spot showed after two years—which isn’t covered under a refurbished warranty period. A white spot indicates the projector is ultimately failing. Considering this was advertised as new it was a disappointment. I would stay clear of a refurbished product without a doubt. Just buy new and verify it’s new no matter what, check the sticker under the projector. ... show more

  • Great Projector
The laser TV has been an amazing addition to my setup — it’s such a great plug-and-play solution that delivers impressive visuals right out of the box. The picture quality is sharp, the setup process was incredibly simple, and it really transformed my entertainment experience without needing a complicated installation. That said, I did run into one issue early on: the lamp stopped working within the first six months of owning it. I was a little disappointed at first, but when I reached out to customer support, they responded right away and handled everything efficiently. They repaired it quickly and even followed up to make sure everything was working perfectly afterward. Overall, despite that small hiccup, I’m really happy with the product and the excellent customer service that came with it. ... show more

  • Amazing Projector for Film Lovers....
My review of Ben V7050i short throw projector. Let me describe myself first. I am approaching this review as a film lover lens only. I am not a gamer. I am a huge fan of Ben Q. I have purchase 3 projectors from them. The colors are amazing and product is high quality. This is my second 4K ( First one was HT3550). This projector is simple amazing. If I compare it to HT3550( my first review ***.5) to V7050i, this projector blows it away with brightness, detail, and presentation. Yet, it should for the price. This is a short throw projector. I have a small room so my 92 inches screen stand estimate 7-8 inches from screen. I did have little issues installing it. This was because I underestimated the room size and frankly I am in the basement so the floor is not totally flat. That can throw off alot when you install. If you have ideal room, this should not take you no longer than 10 minutes. All the installation issues were my own fault. Use the Ben Q calculator on their site to help with installation. You get two remotes, a machine and one big box. I received it in perfect condition. I purchase it through Amazon because no interest 12 month plan.Yea, another loan ( sarcasm) . Yet, I have no regrets. I will also recommend you if you want more reviews to check out Youtube ( Chris Mejestic, sparechange ,and projector screen). Now back to review. This machine is a dream for 1st timers or people with limited space. The instructions I thought were little confusing, yet this could be my inexperience with short throw . But When everything was done, the picture is simple perfect. I love the film making mode. Remember, everyone is different. You might like another mode or you can manually change settings. Right off the bat, the colors are vibrant and detail is astounding. I thought I had it good with the HT3550 4k , but this machine spoils me. It should, it cost twice as much. The brightness is very good. My basement does have ambient light, yet this does a great job with presentation. But when the room is totally dark, this is where it excels. From previous reviews, gamers might be disappointed with lag time. But for me, this is about movies and it does not disappoint. The colors pop out at you. The 3D is fantastic. The black levels are ok. Frankly I would not have notice unless I read reviews about it. They are mostly noticeable in Black and white films. Again, I would not have notice unless I did not read or watch reviews on product. The sound is ok. But guys, if you are going to buy this, get yourself a half way decent sound bar. The streaming devices are fine, but I have it connected with my Rocku. It is a laser projector so you have 20,000 hours of life. I like that it has a protector cover over the Lens when you turn it on and off. Everything about this machine is quality made. Compared to other projectors, this is little above average on size and weight. But not quality and presentation. This machine is an investment for movie watchers. It is a luxury item and you get what you pay for. If you want more for your buck for Ben Q , then you get HT3550. If you want the finest presentation and best movie experience, you get the Ben Q V7050i. Finally, I want to say that I am so happy with this projector. I have been enjoying my 4k films so much lately. The streaming looks fantastic too. Do your research on what you want. For me, This machine was the one for me. 5 stars: strengths: color, clearity, menu,, brightness, set up, great for small rooms or apartments, remotes, overall prevention of the machine, 3D, and a huge plus it does not project too much heat and minimum amount of sound. Weakness: price ( you get what you pay for),gaming time ( based on other reviewers ), sound (its ok, it's not Bose), black levels with black in whites ( yet good enough for me and I am a stickler on film presentation) . I hope this review helps you and have a good day. One year later: The projector works fine. I still love the presentation .. Yet, I will update a few things. With this projector, you will not be able to connect a atmos soundbar or system. This projector does not support it. I wish this projector had a 3rd HDMI connector. It would make my life easier. Still, I don't regret getting it. ... show more

  • Unreliable product
Bought in 2001. After yr started getting white spots. Returned to benq for repair. They sent another unit, that would not focus. They sent another unit and it worked for 2.5 years and now it is getting. White spot again. Steer clear of benq.

  • Everything you thought it would be
I've had this since mid-December 2021 and I love it! This is my second projection TV, and while I loved the old one, this one is so much better. When combined with an ALR screen, this truly replaces your standard TV. I can have all of the light in the room on their brightest and the blinds fully open, and this is screen is just as sharp and bright as any standard TV. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that it's brighter. The color and clarity are just phenomenal, and everyone who comes over is blown away. I've read another review where someone seems to think that you can't reliably connect anything but the android dongle that comes with this, that this "blanks out". That's simply not true. I think, perhaps, that they were confused by the fact that different sources can have different resolution limits, so when you first connect to something that is, say *not* 4k, the projector will adjust the picture mode automatically to accommodate that and will blank out for about 2 seconds to do that. I've had no issues connecting my PS4, PS5, Sony Blu-Ray player, and Amazon Fire Cube to this projector. Words fail when trying to convey that quality of this picture; it really must be seen to be believed. Like I stated in my title: this is everything I expected it would be. And more. ... show more

  • Great picture out of the box Great picture out of the box
Great picture, totally outshines my previous epson 4010. Brighter picture and true 4K. Price is still a little on the high side. I’m using a regular aeon grey screen at the moment but plan on getting a alr screen In The future. I can live with this picture for now. These pictures don’t do it justice. Blacks are a little grey during the day but really can’t complain about them at night. I have only been using it for about 12 hours . I’ll update in a month. ... show more

  • Awesome projector
This is prob my 6th high end projector that I own. This one is my favorite. Clarity is amazing. It could be a little brighter. You can use it with a few lights on but you def lose some details. The speaker sounds better than any tv I have ever heard. It honestly sounded better than the b&o soundbar (that I bought and returned) because it seemed like the sound is actually coming from the screen and not the speaker. A heads up about ultra short throw projectors is that you technically need a tension projector screen. Any slight curves in the screen display kinda morphed, this is not a problem with a standard projector where a $100 screen is fine. I am not willing to buy an expensive tension screen so my standard screen will be fine for now. With that said I still prefer the ultra short throw projector. ... show more
