  • Great gaming and all-purpose projector
Been using this projector for well over 2 years now and I'm never going back to TVs and LCD screens. The fact that the image is displayed on a wall and not directly into my eyes helps a lot with the typical headaches or eye weirdness you get while looking directly at normal device screens. This this great for gaming (primary reason I bought it) and I'm able to play twitchy, high-action games with no lag. Also use it for work and other things and there's a slew of settings to tweak the colors, brightness, and even power usage. I had to replace the bulb recently after reaching 10 hours of usage time and it was super easy to swap out. It's been so long since I've seen a piece of hardware that was clearly designed to make this kind of process as simple and easy as possible (looked up "benq lamp replacement" on YouTube" and found it right away). No complaints with this projector. I will continue buying Benq projectors for life. ... show more

  • Th685p vs epson ef mini 12
Both are really good projectors , th685p is better for gaming for the low input lag but If you want more details, I'd go with the epson ef 12 since it's a laser projector and has more details and color accuracy than the th685p and has almost the same brightness since its a laser projector, I use both the akia 125" and 104" and tested both on each screen , and like I've said gaming is better on the benq th685p but if you do only movies epson ef 12 is way better for details. Contrast ratio is better on the ef 12 blacks are better and almost looks like a 4k projector , so if you're confused weither to get this or a laser projector go with the laser projector if you only do movies and go with the th685p if you only do gaming. ... show more

  • A solid investment
Shipped fast and is absolutely amazing .was looking for a replacement for my epson home cinema 1080.( it got used allot in its 7 ish years) so glad I payed a little more and got this. Simple startup.mine is above my head on a shelf so getting keystone and zoom, focus dialed in took a minute. Brightness is awsome verry little washout from a 120 watt overhead light, better in dark obviously. Fan is nice and quiet. so far would recommend time will tell ... show more

  • Like it
On my third one. Use it in the conference room and it color corrects for color of the wall. Hard to focus, too sensitive, but it will focus. Bulbs go about 15,000 hours but the replace notice that you are at 15,000 hours comes on at about half that. I have run these until the bulbs blow up (which is pretty close to 15,000 hours) and replaced the bulbs and run the units again. I'm talking 20 years now on only 3 BenQ projectors. The current one is this one in the ad. Oh, and the remote control from the prior one works on this so now I have a spare. It hangs upside down from the ceiling and the software allows a flip and also a trapezoid correction so it shows on the wall as a well displayed image. Great for Windows 7-11. Says 3000 ish lumens and I believe it. Can work with the office lights at full intensity. ... show more

  • Bright until it turns off every 7 minutes
Bought new... picture is bright and clear until it overheats and goes into shutdown mode every 7 minutes no matter where it is... had it mounted upside down just below rafters with clearances as per specified in manual. After overheating, verified operation and direction of intake and exhaust fans, tried it right side up on the cold floor, same overheating issue... returning ... show more

  • “Gaming projector”
Every time you close a game it reverts to automatic input and switches. If you have another HDMI plugged in it will switch. If only one is plugged in, you’ll get hit with a blank screen for 5 seconds, also you have to either turn off the projector first or wait 5 seconds after turning off game console. For the price and “tag” of gaming projector it’s a minor issue for me but inconvenient. Other than that plays well on multiplayer games, price point??? Not sure if I’d buy again. ... show more

  • Replaced an old W1070
I was concerned about the price point on this one. I studied for months before I bought the W1070 about 10 years ago and was more than satisfied with it over the life of 4 replacement bulbs. Bought it, hooked it up and we were off! Much brighter picture over the 1070, as in, have to turn brightness and lamp down at night but that is fine for me. I have a skylight near the living room where this is set up and where the 1070 struggled and it was hard to watch during bright sunny days, the TH685 handles that with out any issue whatsoever. The picture quality is SUBSTANTIALLY better over the W1070, and the colors seems to pop more also. Figured I'd give a small sniper here on the very few people replacing a 10 year old W1070 (you know who you are...lol). Get this one. It is still the budget projector you bough when you bought your W1070 but is a HUGE upgrade from it! ... show more
