I always dreamed of having a home theater but being well.. not rich.. it was never realistic. Until my wife gave me the go ahead to design an overhead cabinet in our bedroom where we would house a projector! First I bought the cheap Chinese random brands for around 250. It was extremely disappointing. I did way more research and preparation and went with this benq. We use it every night for shows, movies or gaming on Xbox cast onto a 120” pull down projector screen. It’s amazing and feels like our own theater, however sometimes the picture is hard to see as contrasts are not always the best. There’s no latency with gaming btw, indistinguishable from a standard monitor and the up scaling makes 4K pictures look just fine. Anyway the only cons are the blacks are hard to see sometimes. I love it, great value, and will use benq again when this one poops out, thank you ... show more

I bought this projector for my homemade Golf Simulator. To be projected onto a 12'6" x 9'6" golf impact screen. I have the projector mounted on my ceiling approximately 19 feet away from the screen. I think is does a great job. No complaints!!! I also use it to watch movies or football games, but mostly for my Flight Scope Golf Simulator. 5 stars from me ... show more

    • Works at first, but slowly degrades in experience.
Was good for a bit. Everything worked great. It just worked, as you would expect. Table stakes (especially for the price). But maybe about a year in, all of a sudden stopped recognizing the dongle at startup (Which sits behind a screwed in plate) - the only way it works now is to unplug the dongle and plug it back in. Very annoying and frustrating. And now the remote has to re-pair nearly every startup. And that takes at least 5+ minutes before we can even use the projector. No longer "just works". Is this what to expect for all BenQ products? At this point I wouldn't. ... show more

The ultimate upgrade in any living space. 4k HDR content looks absolutely stunning for movie watching and the gaming experience is pretty great although I just purchased a console for our bedroom and coming from the best gaming PC setup money can buy to this it feels pretty bad but I think that's more of the consoles lack of power rather then the projectors capabilities since on paper this projector is as capable as the most high end TV's for gaming. Either way for the money I could recommend then projector nto anybody. Remember good picture only makes up half of the experience so budget yourself for a surround sound and if you are like me and find sound to be more important for the experience I highly recommend the Samsung HW-Q950A. It's a 11.1.4 Dolby Atmos wireless surround sound system that really helps put you right in the middle of the scene or battle and completly changed this bedroom entertainment experience since I had only a 3.1 channel Soundbar at time of purchasing this projector. The sound bar also has 2 HDMI inputs to expand on the connectivity. ... show more

    • Great projector with some caveats....
This is a great projector. The picture quality is amazing and my family loves it. I just wish I would have gotten the non Android TV version. This the Android TV version does support HTMI arc but only at 5.1 surround sound. Because of this, I had to get an Nvidia shield to be able to use my Dolby Atmos setup. Now I have two Android TV devices connected to the projector and the projector always defaults to the built-in Android TV which gets very confusing and requires three remotes to control it. And you cannot simply unplug the built-in Android TV. ... show more

We’ve had this projector for 3 years now and I must say, it’s the best and only way to watch sports now! We do not game but I bought this gaming projector specifically because I knew there wouldn’t be lag time when trying to watch live sports. And I must say, it has DELIVERED. It does come with its own fire stick like streaming device but we just use a Roku device connected. I’ve heard a lot of other reviews about connection issues but we’ve literally had no problems However, we also made sure before we bought this that our WiFi routers would be able to support this and multiple other streaming devices, and our router is close enough to the device. Honestly, I can’t speak about the speakers because we’ve never used them directly from the projector. I researched a lot and planned ahead of time on using my own surround sound when I purchased this. However, I was not keen about having extra wires connected and this device does not have blue tooth so what I recommend is buying your own blue tooth transmitter, plugging it into the projector and connecting it to your blue tooth surround sound system. It works like a dream. The projector screen says it can go to a 150” screen but mine is as big as our 14 x 10 foot wall. I’ve had literally no problems at all in our 3 years. The only mishap is when we switched the breaker one time I had to reset the transmitter for the blue tooth to reconnect to the surround system. But otherwise it stays connected every time you turn it on or off. ... show more

    • Hidden compartment for dongle
Overall, very high quality projector for the price. Very quiet fan and does not get too hot. Has an auto keystone feature so you don't have to adjust much which is awesome. I was confused at first because it said it had smart capabilities - come to find out, there's a hidden compartment that you need to remove a screw to access (this is where the dongle is to be installed to use the smart capabilities).
