This is the third Bella brand appliance I've returned. I like the wide toaster and I like my 4 quart air fryer, but everything else Bella makes seems to be a complete dud and this thing would top the list. And I really wanted to like it! I have severe carpal tunnel in both hands that is inoperable. Given my good experience with two Bella products I gave this a shot and it's a complete piece of garbage that barely moved and required me to get out my old school can opener instead. This is not the battery powered can opener to get. In fact, I would probably steer clear of a battery powered can opener and either use the typical electric one or do some solid research like I'm about to as far as the best manual can opener for people with weak hands and disabilities. This Bella automatic can opener really takes the struggle out of opening cans. You set it on the rim, press the top button, and it spins around the lid on 4 AA batteries so there is no cord to deal with. The unit is compact and lightweight, and the cutting action leaves the can edge mostly smooth. The built-in magnet is handy for lifting the lid without touching it, although I found I sometimes have to nudge the opener back a hair for the magnet to grab properly. It also does not always stop on its own when it returns to the start, so listen for the change in sound or press the button again to stop it. The removed lid can still be sharp, so be careful handling it. For anyone with arthritis or weak grip this is a useful little tool since the only action required is pressing a button. Keep some spare AA batteries and a manual opener nearby just in case, but overall it is a compact, convenient gadget that makes everyday can opening much easier. ... show more

This can opener is close to perfect, but not quite there yet. The good parts make this worth 5 stars all the same. It feels relatively heavy compared to a manual opener, and it’s bulky. Those attributes matter a lot in my case as I spend most of my time in my van conversion. Weight and size are best kept light and small. I suspect it’s the batteries causing those factors, which brings me to the third issue. If you don’t have the batteries required when the old ones are empty then you’re out of luck getting your cans opened. I would really like it if this was rechargeable. A smaller, lighter battery could be used and an occasional charge would keep you on track. A few little indicator lights would be handy too, so you would know ahead of time if it needs a fresh charge before you start cooking for Thanksgiving or whatever. The positives are huge with this opener too. If you’re older, have arthritis, etc. this can make life much easier. All you need to do is set this on the can, push the button, and that’s it. The opener does the rest. There’s a decent magnet on the underside of the opener that grips the lid as you lift it up. You don’t need to get your fingers messy and the magnet stops the lid from falling down into the food. This also cuts through the side of the can, not down through the top. You can see this in the photo I included. Again, it prevents anything on the lid from dropping into the food. So this works brilliantly. Not having things fall down into the food is huge. This is also a snap to clean. Only a few parts are exposed. It looks good and simple. It feels like it will last for a long time. So overall, it’s great!
