I’ve had waterproof pads in the past when my kids were young and they were, well...... ick. Made a lot of noise when you slept on them, were hot, and pretty stiff. You’d really never know this was a mattress protector. It’s VERY soft and pliable, pockets are plenty deep enough, and it washes up great! Well constructed and appears durable. I dried it most of the way on low (as recommended), then hung it to dry for the last bit. It really gives me peace of mind when the grandkids sleep over.
