This is an excellent mattress protector. It does the job, is easy to wash and fits over the mattress and the foam cushion we use on top of the mattress. It is well made and the elastic and depth of the material used for the sides of the mattress (that holds the protector to the mattress) is the best - you do not have to fight to get it to fit on the mattress. Our pup has diabetes and with diabetes comes extra water going in AND coming out. Our pup has soiled the protector only a few times but, unlike before, it did not reach the foam pad or the mattress. My wife went into labor a year and a half ago and that labor went very quickly....so quickly that she ended up giving birth on our bed in the presence of EMTs. We then went to the hospital where I stayed overnight with my wife and new baby girl. The next day, once things had clamed down, I went home to clean up before they came home. For those who have witnessed or gone through child birth, you know what a mess I arrived to. For those who haven't, suffice to say there are many different types of fluids and a lot of them. Let's just say I was fully expecting to be purchasing a new mattress. To my amazement, once I'd bagged our sheets and this mattress pad, our mattress was perfectly fine. I bought another one immediately and will continue to use this brand as long as it exists. I challenge anyone to put it through a more rigorous test and I'm positive it can stand up to some sweat or your child's pee in the middle of the night. This mattress protector has already saved my mattress more than once, which is really the main thing. It fits like a normal fitted sheet and goes on without much trouble. Once it’s on, it stays in place and doesn’t really shift around under the sheets. The top layer feels soft with the cotton terry material, so it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping on something plastic or crinkly. Under regular sheets, you barely notice it’s there. The waterproof part is what makes it worth it. It’s handled spills and accidents without anything reaching the mattress, which is exactly what you want it for. It’s also breathable enough that it doesn’t make the bed feel overly hot or uncomfortable. It just kind of sits underneath everything and does its job quietly. One thing to keep in mind is that it adds a thin extra layer under your sheets, so the feel of the bed is slightly different, but not in a bad way. This is the third time we've purchased this mattress protector, we've now used these on each of our 3 mattresses in our household and we have been quite happy with the results. It is best to under the limitations of these protectors, they won't indefinitely seal out standing liquid, but they will repel small volumes for a while and larger volumes for a short period of time. In the rare circumstances we've needed them to do their job, they have dramatically limited the amount of moisture that made its way through the protector. Again, with reasonable expectations, this protector strikes a nice balance of protection along with comfort.
