I fist came across this product at my local furniture store about a decade ago. Over the past 10 years it was really put to the test. From wine spills, dog urine, etc., anytime I would remove it to throw it in the wash the mattress looked brand new every time. About a year ago I upgraded my bed and moved the one with the protector into the guest bedroom. I went to Target and found an inexpensive one to use thinking it would be similar but boy was I wrong. The one from Target was like a plastic material so any slight movement sounded like you were sleeping in a baby crib with the crunching sound of the plastic. I’m sure it does the job but not for me. This one is a soft terry cloth on top and the waterproofing is underneath so you can’t feel it. The cloth is the equivalent of a bath towel and almost comfortable on its own. I found this one on Amazon, the same one I had for a decade. I was extremely disappointed when the protector arrived in the mail. It was not in the original packaging like the photo and like the product I’m used to seeing. It came in almost like a ziplock bag and it was just thrown in there. No cardboard, not folded, it had wrinkles and what looked like bed bugs. You could tell it was something someone else returned previously. I didn’t even open it and I was heated. It’s almost the same as reselling food someone opened and then returned to the grocery store and resold it. Extremely unsanitary. I contacted Amazon immediately and they apologized and sent me a brand new one the very next day. You could tell this one had never been open before. I’m giving it a 5 star because they made it right and I chalked it up to a mistake. I did finally have to replace the one that was a decade old. The waterproofing material was starting to peel off and I kept having to vacuum the plastic flakes off the mattress. No complaints though since it took 10 years and hundreds of washes to start wearing down. Highly recommend. ... show more

I was not familiar with this brand but decided to take a chance on it and am glad I did. Over all it is a very good product and the terry cloth top is very good quality but what I like the most is the very deep pockets. It will definitely fit those thick mattresses out there.
