I had another one that I bought years ago but this one is much better. I use it because I have 4 dogs & where there are 4 dogs, there are sometimes accidents. Absolutely nothing (from either end) has gotten through this. My mattress is still pristine thanks to this. I like that it's quiet (unlike the cheap ones that crackle under you like a cheap tarp). The media could not be loaded. I poured over 3 cups of water on this cover to see if it would soak through to the mattress. I waited and didn’t see any liquid soaking through. Not giving 5 stars just yet because my son has occasional accidents in the night. With time and pressure, I’m not sure if the urine will soak through or not so that would be the real test. The sides for mine are not waterproof but there’s an option to get that one and I would get it because the water soaked right through the mesh sides. I will update if he has an accident and it soaks through but for now, I would say it works. Love the price too! ... show more

YES IT IS! I purchased this when my fiancé and I got a new mattress. We have 5 dogs and I didn’t want doggo spit up getting on our new bed. I actually got two. A mattress encasement (a 360 zippered cover) and this waterproof one for on top. I didn’t want to be unzipping the encasement off of a California King bed to wash it often. So this one being waterproof and the fitted sheet style was perfect. Easy on and off for cleaning if a dog got sick or we spilt a drink. It’s is also noiseless by the way. So …how waterproof is it? I read so many reviews on these things my eyes went numb. I finally settled on this one. I am glad I did. Never even thought this would be why we would need it. Have you ever seen a woman turn into a squirt gun? Like old school 1985 style one pump equals one squirt… on occasion I am lucky enough to be on the receiving/drinking end of such a wonder. Really doesn’t make too much of a mess. What I didn’t know was my fiancé has the ability to become a wave…tsunami…super soaker. Whatever you want to call it. My goddess geyser also had no clue she had this feature. This sucker held enough wet to soak a bath sheet sized towel! So if you need a waterproof cover, this would be your choice. I like that the top is smooth and liquid can be wiped off. Others have terry top or quilt top which absorbs water. I did test a corner and it did prevent water from going through. Hope it holds up with use and washing. Thin and minimal noise.

Appears to meet reasonable requirements to achieve the noun mattress protector. It's not a great one, or even a good one. It's about what I would expect if I bought the cheapest one at a discount retailer. Not sure it will protect a mattress from liquid spills, and don't trust it to survive a washer.
