A simple solution to add lighting where there’s no existing wiring. You can attach these practically anywhere and have them operating in minutes. We’ve been using this Mr. Beams model (as well as other models) for many years and it’s the only brand we use now. We have not had a single failure or issue such as corroded batteries, and we recently purchased additional ones for a new outbuilding. It’s designed to last years, unlike many products nowadays with the market flooded with low quality Chinese imitations/look-a-likes priced a few dollars less, but in the end don’t last or perform as promised. This particular model has many uses indoors and out. Being battery-operated, it’s not designed to provide flood-like illumination, but does provide sufficient lighting for most needs. The lights are designed to stay on for 20 seconds after it detects movement, and will stay on longer if it continues to detect movement. Vehicles and Animals will also trigger the lights. It's not highly sensitive to things like moving tree branches, unless they are too close. I would estimate the color/temperature of the LED lights to be around 4,000 Kelvin--not yellow but not bluish or “daylight” either. It comes ready to use out of the box; just add batteries. Other than that, there are no replaceable parts or adjustments other than the 2 articulating lights. It's designed for mounting on a vertical surface, and for outdoor use preferably under an eave, though it’s not necessary. It comes w/3 GP screws to attach the mounting plate. I use sheet metal screws or wood screws depending on where they're mounted. The light unit simply slides on and off the plate. BATTERY LIFE - Sensor triggers lights only when dark or in very low light conditions. - Four D Alkaline batteries can last 10-18 months, depending on #triggering events. Our most used (pet area) last over a year w/2000-3000 triggering events. This is my second light like this. The first one was damaged by a bad battery - no fault to the light. This delivers enough light to brighten the area at my garage doors, and the motion detector is good to 20 feet if the light angle is adjusted properly. It’s not as bright as a flood light so don’t expect miracles, but it lights the area I needed to protect. The timer is a bit short - 2 minutes, but it saves battery power and puts any four or two leg critters on notice. If mounted too high under an eave there won’t be room under the eave to release the lights from the base and lift the light part up to open and replace batteries. But in this rare case, you can do what I did and rotate the base before attaching it to the wall and grind away a small plastic ridge to allow the lights and base to snap back together. Installation was very easy, the batteries are probably the hardest part of the entire install. The lighting itself is white light, and it is very bright at night. I have one over my driveway and one on the walkway on the side of my house where I was able to customize the trajectort of the lights to maximize coverage- a bonus for this kind of product. They detect motion quickly and they are able to distinguish night from day. They have faced rain, high wind speeds, high and low/freezing temperatures, and snow.
