  • Works Well
Works as advertised, keeps my car battery charged while not in use.

  • Solar Charger
I use this to keep my Sea Ray 220 Select charged while it’s docked at the marina. Easy hook up. Keeps it charged all summer. Boat fires right up like it’s supposed to!

  • Good but flawed
Decent charging rate but the included suction pads sucked at keeping solar panel mounted on windshield.

  • Obvious difference
Purchased this as one of my cars sits outside a good bit and driven little. My car is foreign made and is notorious for draining the battery with multiple computers waking up every so often and even the clock taking its toll while the car is not in use. After replacing a dead battery (which could no longer be charged) with a brand new fully charged unit, it too was dead after a few weeks. After charging the battery I looked around for solar battery tenders. Most have the cigarette lighter plug which won't work on my car as it is not continuously live and cuts off a few minutes after the key is out. I also didn't want to mess with running the wire to the trunk where my battery is. The OBDII option seemed like a good fit. So far this has worked very well in maintaining the battery with an obvious difference. This is not meant to charge a dead battery but to maintain a charged battery and keep it charged. The unit has a built in controller so it won't overcharge your battery and also has a 5 year warranty. I did not use the suction cups or leave it outside so can't vouch for that. I simply laid the panel on the dash and plugged it in. ... show more

  • Works great
Being able to plug into the OBDII port is why I bought this. Makes it a lot easier than trying to run wires to battery. Honda Odyssey cigarette lighter plugs are switched, so you can't use that option. I see the charging light on this come on even when the sky is overcast, and it is still charging. I won't know for sure if it will keep my battery good for weeks, but last time I let my car sit for 2 weeks, the battery was dead. So I'm hoping this will be better than nothing. ... show more

  • trickle charger uses and fails
Bought this to tend the battery on my pickup which is used sparingly since I work from home now. Could not find a good spot to mount it without having to remove it when I need to drive. Also not sure if abd2 connector was actually charging the battery or not. I bought a plug in tender instead for the truck and use this solar unit to charge my fish finder battery. I plan to see if it can be connected while using the fish finder on my kayak to extend battery life. UPDATE: This worked great to charge my fish finder battery though it does take a couple-three days. I have not tried to use it while on the water yet nor am I sure what would be needed for the wiring to be safe and effective. I have discovered that the suction cups on this are not great. I think they are too stiff. If I put them on the window, they usually fall off in less than one day. I worry that if I put them in a window that is up high, the fall could break it. I would love to be able to put the fish finder battery near a window on the tender and know that it will be ready when I need it, but if it falls, there's no guarantee. ... show more

  • Very Happy!
I have a vehicle I only drive once a week or so and began having brattery drainage problems. I've had mixed results using solar chargers but decided to tive this Battery Tender a shot...and got great results. The proof is that I didn't have a single trouble start for four months while leaving the solar screen on my dashboard but now that the fall/winter sun's rays are slanted and indirect, it is frequently overcast, now I am having to use other means to charge and maintain my battery. So as long as you have sunshine, you have a highly efficient chaging system on hand. Very happy, highly recommended! ... show more

  • Reliable and Simple
I have mine wired through my car from the dash, when I drive the vehicle I unplug it at the wheel well. I would like to add a cut-off switch later, but this is because my vehicle has a battery sensor built directly onto the negative terminal connector. The suction cups cannot stand high heat, so I often find the panel laying on the dash directly. I'm fine with this, and really only stick it back on the windshield when I am driving. Otherwise, it gets plenty of sun just laying on the dash. It's a good tool, definatly will keep a new or decent battery charged, even on cloudy days. ... show more
