How I used my extension cable for jump starting (*only small 6V or 12V Powersports batteries): A riding buddy had some battery problems and after we stopped for gas his bike wouldn't start. We moved away from the pumps and then I hooked the extension cable up to my bike, connected a polarity reversal adapter, and then the SAE battery clamps that came with my Battery Tender and attached them to his battery posts. His bike started and we were able to finish our ride. Lucky for him, when my bike is not in storage I keep my Battery Tender and components in my saddlebags to avoid misplacing them between seasons. I bought this cable because I have limited power sources in my garage and needed more length to keep my Battery Tender and motorcycle plugged in and out of the way during winter storage. I also bought a set of SAE Polarity Reversal Adapters which helps avoid confusion and allows me to use the extension cable for jump starting. You need to reverse polarity when using SAE power cables for jump starts otherwise you'll be connecting positive to negative and vice versa between batteries - NOT GOOD! because you'll boost the amperage output of the two batteries and fry something on both bikes. *I take no responsibility for damages caused using my example. I also do not recommend jump starting a motorcycle using a car battery or while an engine is running, as damages or bodily harm may occur in those scenarios. Do not use this cable for jump starting larger vehicles (lawn tractors, boats, cars, trucks...) because the wire gauge is too thin to support the higher CCA battery ratings and could start an electrical fire. Also, do not connect between batteries with different voltages (6V to 12V) which could cause an explosion. Disconnect the cable immediately once the other bike has started.

This 12.5 feet extension is a perfect solution for me to use in conjunction with the Battery Tender Plus that I recently bought from Amazon. The Battery Tender Plus came with a short 2 feet cord which I hooked up the rings to battery posts as instructed and the other end left dangled (but secured) inside the hood. When its time to hook up the tender I found with electric cord to the wall on one end from the Battery Tender and cord going to the attachment it still was not long enough but with this extension it solves the length problem with extra feet to spare. I have considered the 25 feet extension also which was only few dollars more and better value, but I dont envison I will ever need that length (plus I read somewhere the longer the cord especially when it's over 25 feet, you lose a little charging power), so I didnt go for it. The gauge of this extension appears to be exactly same size as the original that comes with the Tender which is not surprising because this extension came in a bag that was labeled Battery Tender, same company.

I purchased this battery tender 12 foot extension cord to go with the battery tender charger that I purchased. It was well worth it to have the additional length. I only have one electrical outlet in my small garage where my vehicle is stored. The charger will only reach the outlet if I back the car in. With the extension cord it will reach even if I pull the car in forward. I also have another vehicle in a different garage that the outlet is quite far away, so having the additional length is extremely worth it. Of note, please make sure that this item is compatible with the type of battery tender charger you have purchased. It is NOT compatible with the 15 amp battery (12V switchable 15 amp/8amp/2amp selectable chemistry) charger that I had originally purchased. I returned that charger and purchased the 12V 1.25 amp battery charger and maintainer because it works with that model.

Great product for extending the DC circuit connection (6VDC, 12VDC) to the 18 Inch Battery Tender pigtail connector on the car battery. I have my Battery Tender 3Amp charger/maintainer hanging next to the AC wall outlet in the garage. I needed an extra 10-12 feet of DC cord to connect it to the car battery. I like the quick-connectors on these cords. Very convenient.
