🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Alienware OLED monitor is receiving rave reviews for its stunning picture quality, thanks to the combination of quantum dot technology and OLED. Users rave about the excellent color accuracy, high refresh rate, and outstanding motion handling. Despite few minor issues such as slight text fringing from a close distance and concerns of possible future burn-in, overall, the monitor's performance appears to exceed expectations, particularly for individuals needing a larger field of view or dealing with specific visual issues.

Pros

  • 🌈 Exceptional color accuracy and range, enhanced by quantum dot technology.
  • 🎮 Performs excellently in gaming scenarios with G-Sync and a good refresh rate.
  • 🌚 High contrast ratio thanks to OLED, providing true blacks.
  • 👁 Particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from certain visual issues.

Cons

  • 📝 Text fringing can be noticed when viewed too close.
  • 🕹 HDMI ports are only version 2.0, not 2.1, restricting higher refresh rates through HDMI connection.
  • 😰 Potential for OLED burn-in over time, though there are mitigating features and a 3-year warranty.
  • 💿 Eco Mode currently reported as glitchy, causing various issues.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a visually stunning, future-proof monitor ideal for gaming and other high-quality visual content, the Alienware OLED monitor is a worthwhile investment. Despite certain concerns around text fringing and potential for burn-in over time, the monitor's exceptional performance and features appear to outweigh its downsides, offering excellent value for its price.

  • A Top-notch Gaming Monitor
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 180 Hz Style: AW2724DM
Have had this monitor for about two weeks now and here are what I like about it. Super smooth gameplay: The 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time make for an incredibly smooth gaming experience. I play a lot a FPS and this monitor and keep up! Gorgeous visuals: The QHD resolution and IPS panel produce stunning visuals with sharp details and vibrant colors. I was particularly impressed by the color accuracy, which is perfect for both gaming and creative work. Adaptive sync: The AW2724DM supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro; NVIDIA G-SYNC, and VESA which means that you can use this the PS5 and enable Variable Refresh Rate at 2k resolution. Comfortable design: The ergonomic stand allows you to adjust the tilt, swivel, and height of the monitor to find the perfect viewing position. The stand is also very sturdy, so there's no need to worry about the monitor wobbling. Stylish design: The AW2724DM has a sleek and stylish design that will look great on any gaming desk. The AlienFX lighting adds a touch of personality and can be customized to your liking. Haven’t come across any negatives so far as the panel tested perfect and no dead pixels. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Dell Alienware AW2724DM. It's a great gaming monitor that offers excellent performance, stunning visuals, and a comfortable design. If you're looking for a gaming monitor that will take your gaming experience to the next level, the AW2724DM is definitely worth it. ... show more

  • Fantastic Product w/ Downsides
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 240 Hz Style: AW2723DF
I purchased this monitor a year ago after extensive research. I was looking explicitly for a monitor that had an IPS panel, a fast response rate, a high refresh rate, was QHD, and offered a great warranty. The Alienware offers all of these, at a great price. I’ll list the pros and cons that I’ve experienced over the year of owning this product. Pros: - IPS w/ 98% SDR/HDR color calibration out of the box - High SDR Brightness - 280hz Refresh Rate - 0.5ms Response Rate w/ overdrive - QHD (2560x1440) - Build quality is top tier - Zero ghosting - No flicker - Freesync Pro works with AMD/Nvidia cards - 3 year warranty out of the box from Alienware Cons: - Backlight Bleed is noticeable on black wallpapers or in very dark scenes, probably one of the worst I’ve seen. This is common with this unit if you search it. For me, it’s not a massive issue because I only use it for bright FPS titles. I have an ultrawide OLED for other games. - Alienware UI is lacking compared to competitors. The UI feels like there’s a lot, but there’s actually not. This is especially true if you try HDR mode, where the panel will lock the color, and brightness settings. Why this is makes no sense to me. - No HDMI 2.1. This doesn’t really matter since it’s not a 4k monitor, but I would assume it would have one since the monitor was released after the currentgen consoles. At the price, it surprised me. I use DP 1.4 either way, so it wasn’t an issue for me. - No speakers. This personally doesn’t affect me as I use either headphones or a surround system. However, it technically is a con. - Mediocre HDR performance. The HDR performance is mediocre at best. The gray uniformity isn’t the greatest because the backlight bleed, which takes away from the highs and lows HDR tries to accomplish. The HDR brightness is also technically below standard. I would recommend SDR, which looks very good anyway. - Semigloss screen coating. The coating appears more matte than semigloss to me, but it’s not bad per say. It’s still good enough to not wash out the colors like some matte coatings, but I definitely feel like calling this semigloss isn’t accurate. I would rather call it lightly matte. Conclusion: - This monitor excels at being a top tier choice at competitive fast moving games like CoD, CS2, Overwatch, Etc. However, it does not excel at games that would be better played on an OLED or MiniLED panel. I own this monitor strictly for FPS titles, and have the OLED AW3423DWF for other games. My use for this monitor is fantastic, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who plays fast paced competitive games and can push the frames to utilize the refresh rate. ... show more

  • Good Monitor for Gaming
Display Size: 24.5 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 360 Hz Style: AW2523HF
I bought this monitor awhile back and has served me well so far. I bought this monitor since I play competitive games such as Fortnite and MW3. Before this monitor I had a 1440p 165hz panel. I then bought a higher-end pc, requiring me to buy this to push more frames. With that being said, this thing loves pulling watts right out of my wall. Even with the wattage draw, the physical monitor itself doesn't seem to get very warm. The picture is good for what it is. The color range is alright. But again, the main draw to this monitor is the refresh rate. I found a lazy pixel about a month and a half into owning it, but I only see it when I'm trying to look for it. All in all, this monitor is a good choice for anyone looking into competitive gaming, especially when it goes on sale. ... show more

Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 240 Hz Style: AW2723DF
Really good. Good quality, good software but expensive! Working 8 hours per day on it and gaming too (G-Sync 180 Hz)! No complain, just enjoy it. HDR is a real HDR with good colors! Colors are wonderful! Enjoy also the integrated power adapter. No big power adapter, just a cable to connect.

  • Unacceptable backlight bleed
Display Size: 27 Inches Display Resolution Maximum: 240 Hz Style: AW2723DF
I was really excited about this monitor, but it has the worst backlight bleed of any monitor I have ever owned, IPS or otherwise. I didn’t spot it in the Amazon reviews but further searching online revealed it is a common problem with this monitor and because of that I’m wary to even try to exchange it. On a product this expensive, it’s unacceptable. Do note that all IPS panels have some level of glow to them in the corners and that is generally okay. It is not the same as backlight bleed and the bottom right corner of mine is far worse than the others. In gaming and even on the desktop it is VERY noticeable. Setting aside the backlight bleed it is actually a great product and that’s what I find most upsetting. Colors pop, the response times are great, no ghosting or other problems. Everything about it functions the way I would expect a monitor of this price to do. Even the IPS glow is substantially reduced compared to my not-that-old LG ultrawide panel from a few years back. But given the widely reported backlight problems, I encourage people to avoid this one ... show more
