    • Overpriced, better options elsewhere
We were looking for a cute trash bin for my daughter's bathroom ... and this seemed ideal. We were grabbing it along with several other items related to prepping for the school year, decorating her bedroom, etc. But, after having this bin for a few weeks ... and sneaking peeks at other options post purchase, I can say that this is a total too lazy to not get it all at amazon - purchase. Of course, it's Oscar the grouchiness is hard to deny, but given that it just sits hidden between the sink and toilet, and doesn't really stand out in the usual way a kids item does, well ... no one even really notices that it's any different than any other trash basket. More importantly, if you have time to check out Target, Wayfair, or even some specialty shops -- you'll definitely find something more fun, personal, and expressive, for about the same price or even cheaper. That alternate might be plastic, so bonus to this for being slightly more substantial, but for its purpose, I wish I had not succumbed to the All on Amazon All the Time allure. Also, it's TOTALLY quiet, which is great, but ours takes like eons to actually close ... like you can see the grains of sand falling. No biggie, just kinda odd. ... show more

    • Cute trashcan!
This trashcan is adorable and looks amazing in our seaside-themed bathroom! Although small, it usually holds a week's worth of bathroom trash for my husband and I, with some room to spare. However, it is quite lightweight and moves across the floor easily when you step on the pedal. Even backed up against a wall, it can move sideways (so if you have a tight corner to wedge it, that would be best). As such, my husband tends to just lift the lid by hand. Not a huge issue as my husband doesn't mind and the trashcan pedal still works - it just takes a bit of practice to figure out the angle/pressure to exert in order to use the pedal by foot without moving the trashcan. However, I should note that this is more easily done if your foot isn't HUGE. The combination of the trashcan being lightweight and the pedal being very small is what makes it very difficult for my husband to open it with his size 13 feet. It's almost comical to watch him try to do it if he has his house slippers on. I have size 6.5 feet and don't have many issues. Overall, despite this minor problem, we are very pleased with it, and it serves our bathroom well. EDIT: We've had it for 2 years now, and it's still holding up well and going strong! ... show more

Perfect shade of powder pink. Adorable vintage style. Easy foot pedal. Soft close feature. Not just for restrooms. Separate pail for liner/cleanliness. I’ve been using my simplehuman size A liners since I have those for my other pails... but when they redesigned the one I went to replace, I found this much cuter alternative 💖😁.. I’m happy as can be! 💕 Bin liner fit is perfect. There’s a carrying handle on inside bin, so one can use to carry to empty without liner, if it’s just for dry trash. I suppose that’s more economical & 🌎 friendly ♻️ .. but sometimes a gal can only do so much🤷♀️... it’s a hard job 😓& often feels like you’re the only one♻️ ..esp when you live in the inner city 🌃 😞..     • Beautiful and well made and we use it for COMPOST
We use this STEP CAN for our compost! Now, I know the folks who designed and merchandised this intended it to be for trash. But we have it in the kitchen for compost. There is a sturdy inner plastic liner with a bail handle. So far it is working great. The whole idea that you need to use a hand to open your compost keeper when you've got gooey stuff in your hand, like a piece of rotten fruit, or salmonella eggshells, or what have you, was not well thought out. So we got this STEP CAN and now we can toss things into the compost keeper without using our hands. It HOLDS A LOT, I mean, for a compost keeper. We've been doing this now for about a month; no rust yet. But if it does rust well, it's our fault because it was never meant for kitchen scraps and wet paper towels! It is not small, not a tiny little thing, but we wanted a compost keeper that was a step can and one where we did not need to bend over. SO, 100%. Seems very well made and sturdy. It's a nice light cream color, vaguely retro something. Very happy. ... show more

Love this trash can! It is slightly smaller than I had expected, but I blame that on the picture. It closes softly, slowly, and quietly. The inside bin even has a small handle, making it easier to remove, BUT the inside bin does not have a bottom. So if you were to just throw the trash inside, it would go straight through and onto the floor. It’s meant to be lined with bags. I like mine with Walmart bags.
