  • Good, reliable, light
Color: Gray
I bought one pair of these, then came back a few months later to buy a second pair. I used them with a camping tarp/fly I bought off of Amazon (has the tarp, lines and spikes). Together, I've been able to rig any number of configurations to keep the sun and rain off me. With four poles, I can cover an enormous area to keep the sun away. I've even parked partially underneath so the truck camper shell was kept out of direct sunlight, while the rest of the cover provided shade for a campsite. With two poles, I've rigged a tarp over a picnic table to provide protection from a light shower. I've also tied the tarp to the truck at one end, and then used two poles at the other end to create an extended awning for well under $80 all-in. I've also created some privacy by rigging one end of the tarp to two poles and the other end to the ground. That same configuration proved useful when winds picked up and were creating a hassle of blowing dust and sand at the campsite. I have a set of "infinitely adjustable" poles as well, which are much heavier weight. But they only break down to 1/2 the full length (instead of 5 pieces) and I find the pieces in this set can be used flexibly enough to meet all my needs. The pressure springs inside help hold the pole segments together, but they do not lock. They are convenient for setting up and moving around the poles. But once set, the pole is pressurized between the ground and the tarp/tie-down line at the top, so nothing really has to hold the segments together. I wouldn't rely upon these to hold up heavy canvas tarps or to serve as the main poles supporting a large tent. But for a fly or small/mid-sized tarp (5'x7'-12'x12'), they do the job very well. Update: Have now had them for two years. Used them many times. No issues at all - no bends, no breaks, no chips even. They roll around in a box in my truck all the time. I love the flexible configuration - sometimes I go full height, sometimes I set one pair of poles lower to block a view (eg neighboring campsite) or serve as a bit of a wind stop or to allow rain to run off in one direction. ... show more

  • Good pole!
Color: Black
I was fairly please with these poles, but I wish they had been a little sturdier. They bent a little more than expected when tarping which caused a loss in height of an additional inch or two. I may have been expecting too much of them. That said, if you had a smaller sized tarp, they would work great. They assembled easily and were easy to take down. The value was average. I will use these, but when it comes time to replace will most likely upgrade. ... show more

  • Great Price and Good Quality Poles
Color: Black
These poles work perfectly for my SUV Tailgate tent/awning! Just the right height, easy to put together and sturdy enough to do the job while maintaining light weight! The price is great!

  • Adequate Fly Poles
Color: Black
Perhaps I was asking too much of them, but these bent way out of shape in relatively strong winds.

  • So far, so good!
Color: Black
We got these to test them out for tarps for the animals. You can barely find these around anymore. Now, we haven’t used them a ton, so I can’t speak on how long they last but they have served us well. They are priced a bit higher than I like so I will continue to search for more all over but they’ll do for now. Again, the product seems fine…just overpriced. I’m sure there is someone around that just has these laying around, so I’ll keep looking for more of these or get creative. ... show more

  • Work great
Color: Black
These poles work great to keep tarps up as well as support for different tents. They worked well for me.

  • They work but don't over do it and pack spare sections.
Color: Gray
They work but don't over do it and pack spare sections. They're kinda flimsy but do their job well for $17. Light and cheap. Just use with care. When testing with my tarp setup in the backyard, I dropped about gallon of water on the tarp all at once. Quite stupid of me really. I've never see a gallon-sized rain drop. Hahaha. Anyways, one of the 2 poles i was using bent right where 2 sections meet, so those 2 sections were no longer usable for their original purpose. Glad I ordered 2 sets to begin with. They performed well on my actually camping trip, although one of the poles kept flexing a scary amount, even after loosening my guide rope a bit. I suspect there were several sections in that pole that were victims of my earlier testing. They still worked but were scarred for life by the trauma I inflicted upon them! Hahaha! ... show more

  • Worth the money
Color: Black
I am using this set of poles for a big tarp and they are as stredy as the one 3 times the size of the other one I am using. These poles have taken 15 mph winds still holding the tarp in place. Excellent poles and price.
