  • Works Better than the Primo brand water cooler I've used for years
Style: Bottled
First, let me address all the 1-star reviews complaining about the taste. I've had 3 bottom-load water coolers over the past decade. Every single one of them had a bad taste from the sanitizer remaining in the tank. This one is no different. The solution is to plug it in , let it fill, and then unplug and drain the internal tank. Repeat several times to dilute and remove most of that sanitizer. I used a full 5-gallon water bottle and after, the water coming out tasted the same as if I poured it directly from the bottle. With that addressed, I'm really impressed with the flow rate. My old Primo model would take over a minute to fill a 16 oz water bottle. This Avalon model does it in about 10 seconds. I like the fact that I can get room temperature water. The old Primo model only had hot and cold. As for noise level, this Avalon is so quiet we weren't sure it was even pumping up to the upper reservoir. It was. The upper reservoir holds over 1/2 gallon of water. So far, I'm impressed with the quality I'm seeing on this water cooler. If anything changes, I'll update my review. ... show more

  • VERY LOUD and subtle slight aftertaste
Style: Bottled with Filters
I'm not sure if it is just my unit is somehow defective or if it is suppose to be loud, but when I fill up my large water mug, as it pumps water up it becomes a crescendo of what almost sounds like a jackhammer. I never let it go completely empty - I am especially careful to refill the bottle BEFORE it is fully empty. I have also noticed just the faintest hint of aftertaste - I am especially sensitive to chemicals. I am not complaining about this per se as it is a far cry superior to drink than the city water out of the tap. Being disabled, this unit is a blessing - bottom load means I can park a chair next to this and manage refilling it myself. Aside from the noise and ever so subtle aftertaste, I give this an 7/10 rating. I suspect I may need to return it b/c I find it hard to believe it is suppose to sound like a jackhammer! But I will wait for it to die - I purchased the extended warranty. ... show more

  • Feeds from the bottom. Save your back.
Style: Bottled
Was looking for a bottom feed water cooler due to back issues. And this one fit the bill almost perfectly. But it does have a few design short comings that some users may find interesting. For example, there are three switches on the rear to turn on/off the hot and cold mechanisms as well as a light switch. These switches are recessed by about 1/2 an inch along the back of the unit near the top edge. But, as I said they are on the rear, and usually this unit is pushed against a wall making access to the switches difficult. Worse, is the fact that the switches are ONLY labeled on the rear. So you are really operating the switches "blindly". I ended up placing "stick on" labels on the top of the cooler to tell me which switch is which. Another interesting limitation is the fact that you can only get a narrow pot/glass or other container under the spigots. This is due to the fact that the spigots are positioned very close to the recessed wall just behind them. And if are trying to fill a tall water bottle or other such container, you will need to bend-down and hold that container against the spigot while it fills. Two other interesting things involve the water compartment door. First, there is no handle or indent on the right side of the door, which makes opening the door a bit of a challenge. And in my opinion, a clear plastic insert, maybe an inch or so wide, running top to bottom and centered in the door, would be able to give a visual indication of how much water is actually left in the bottle. The current design means you do not know this until either the "empty" light comes on, or you constantly open/close the door to check. One other thing I should mention is that it fills a container at about half the speed of my old top-load water cooler. But it does the job of saving my back which was the most important thing for me. No more lifting 40 pound, 5 gallon, water bottles. Now I just easily slide the bottles in and out. ... show more

  • Good but could be better
Style: Bottled
This machine is great because the hot water is hot and the cold water is cold! The room temperature tap is too cold but I never seen a fountain in which that did not happen... Still there are a few details that I should mention: - The unit makes some strange random noises from the day it arrived. They are loud enough to make you thing there is someone in the room or a rat inside the unit! Of course there was neither but I still can not figure out what causes those random noises. Maybe there is something wrong with mine. - I wish there was a way to keep the water tap on without having to press it down continuously. Very tedious when filling a jug. One of my other units could be put in a way that it would dispense for a while and then pop back by itself as a safety measure. It lasted just long enough to fill a jug 3/4 of the way. Unfortunately they no longer make that brand. - I wish the was enough space to rest a jug. holding a full jug with one hand, at an angle, while holding the button with the other, is not comfortable. I have owned several fountains over the years and this one IS a good one. Those are just small points that could be improved by the manufacturer. ... show more

  • Works well.
Style: Bottled
This is a very nice water dispenser. The temperatures of the water are what you expect - refreshing cold, room temperature, and then very hot (hot enough to use for hot chocolate). Changing the bottle is as easy as can be. I wanted to wait a while before leaving a review to make sure it works for a while. We ordered it in September of 2022. It was packed well, arrived damage free - and the shipping was fast. The water tastes just fine. It makes a little noise every now and then when refilling the internal tanks, but it’s not very loud or anything bad complaining about. ... show more
