If you're like us and don't bother to download or follow the link in the listing description for assembling instructions, and are comfortable assembling stuff without them, this is what you need to know, there are 2 packages of hardware the bolts which already have the flat and lock washers already on and nearly impossible to pull the flat washers off, are specifically for fastening the platform together and not for securing the clamps to your drip rails. Ask me how I know. Now thats out of the way, assembly and installation took 2 of us roughly 2 hours, it's not complicated, just alot of pieces, hardware and figuring out the spacing we wanted for the slats, which ended up being equally spaced and roughly 6" in between each of them, but you can place them in any configuration to fit your needs. This is a great design, not for just the ease of putting on or taking it off, but truly for the T slot flexibility. You can freely add or remove accessories on all 4 sides at the top and outer perimeters. You could aldo utilize the T slots where the rails attach, the slots in the rails if you choose not to install the rubber anti slip fillers, (just like most luggage racks have), and the slots where the mounting hardware go, with a bit of planning and possibly disassembly once you decide what you want to mount. This added 3-1/2" of height measuring from the highest point center of the roof to the top of the platform. The entire platform is aluminum and the mounting clamps are steel. These mounting clamps have around 1" of left to right aka driver to passenger adjustment for centering over the roof, or off center for additional clearance for accessories on the side. Where we currently have it mounted does add a little wind noise, but nothing we can't live with, and definitely quieter than any windshield mounted light bar we've had mounted on the A pillars, or all the rattles, pops and squeaks it already has. The only downside I've run into is what are we going to do with this new blank slate, so many options and possibilities and how will we pay for it all. Lest I forget, they give you 8 additional spring type T slot hardware to get you started on accessories, although I haven't yet sourced this type yet and have reached out to the seller. Overall we're very pleased, I've looked at roof systems for over 5 years, do many of them are proprietary accessories, some require drilling the roof and not removable, and then there's the exoskeleton mounted, which may be the best for carrying heavy weights, but also creates more areas for rocks or limbs to catch on. The only cautionary advice I can give with this one is it mounts to your fiberglass composite drip rail, so don't be ramming it into rocks or trees so your don't damage them. The media could not be loaded. Wow, this is a perfect match for Jeep’s hard tops. The bars were individually wrapped for max protection during shipping. This is suitable for kayaks and cargo! I didn’t expect this to be super heavy duty, but it is. It weighs close to 50 pounds!!! So practical and useful. I’m very picky about things looking good and this was spot on in color, style, and usefulness. It took about 40 minutes to assemble and fit my 2010 jeep sport!
