If you work on expensive firearms this is a great product. So let me explain. I accidentally dropped a Browning rifle and put a dent in the stock. Worse, it is a high gloss urethane over expensive grade wood. Well I almost had a heart attack right there! The dent didn’t go to bare wood so I was going to be working on the finish only. Doing some research on how to fix the damage I ran across another gun enthusiast who suggested it might be repaired with rubbing compound. I started by using 0000 steel wool which smoothed out the worst damage but left a dull spot on the shiny stock. I finished by using this great rubbing and polishing product. The results were amazing. Ok, it didn’t take out the dent. BUT you can hardly see any of the initial damage. In fact I have to run my finger over the area to find the divot. Plus the gunstock is as bright and shiny as when it left the factory!

First, I had a couple of deep scratches (the kind you can feel running a finger nail against the scratch). That being said this product did what it says it will do, I had some other light scratches and they were handled very well in removing those. The two deeper ones I will say that from some angles they are not noticeable, but from a couple of other angles they are still visible but not as much. These were removed by 90% because when running a finger nail over them they are not as noticeable. I've used some other products but they were no as good. What matter's is the amount of "cut" number the product has. There are rubbing compounds with a higher cut number but you have to be careful with how much your rubbing out. This one's number is a 400. So the higher the number the more it cut's into the paint to remove, which is the idea but also a balance without removing to much clear coat or paint. Generally deep scratches require a really deep cut and filling in to remove.
