I'm so happy I purchased this Automatic Coop door. It's easy to install , great quality and the fact that is solar and never has to be charged is amazing. It’s also comes with a remote that can be operated from inside if needed. I can't believe I owned chickens for 3 years and didn't know about this. We set a timer to close at 530 pm and open at 530am and it's so convenient. My chickens don't have to wait for me to wake up to get outdoors, and are safe from any predators once the sun sets. Easy to install and works great. The timer is accurate, and the solar panel just needs to be placed in direct sunlight to keep it charged daily. It feels sturdy and has held up well in the rain. The motor is a bit noisy, but since it’s outside it doesn’t bother me. It’s a great time saver and I don’t have to worry about forgetting to close the chicken gate anymore. ... show more

The unit is not preforming like the last one, which lasted over a year. The programing is not working correctly and 1/2 dozen times the chickens have been locked in until I notice they aren't in their yard.

    • Nifty design
I have automatic doors on several coops and this is the first one I have had with horizontal doors. I think that design is really neat, and allows for use on shallow buildings that don't have the extra height to allow a door to move upwards. I also feel like the horizontal movement of two smaller panels is faster and sturdier than having one big door. Now, the programming of this door takes a minute, but is not hard if you follow the instructions. The remote control is a plus so you don't have to actually enter the enclosure and stoop down to manually open/close the door. The solar panel provides ample power to operate the door even after several cloudy days. A drawback is that you have to keep the bottom rail free from bedding or other debris or your doors won't close right. This door might work best on coops that are sanded rather than using wood shavings as litter. ... show more

Purchased in April and installed in late April. Last week the door stopped opening and closing. It has trapped our chickens outside and inside. The door does not open or close from the front panel or using the timed open/close. Amazon says this company is no longer a vendor here so I have no way of contacting them about the 1 year warranty since it has only been 5 months. Disappointed! ... show more
