I’m really happy with this automatic chicken coop door! The horizontal dual opening design is a game changer — my chickens walk through easily, and it’s wide enough for my ducks too. The solar power setup works great, and I love that it also has a USB backup just in case. I used it to replace a vertical opening door. Installation was easy as I already had a opening and it just involved screwing it to the wall around the opening. Having a solar panel was the main reason I bought it, as my coop is a bit of walk away and I hated having to go out in the middle of the night because the batteries had died and the door was closed, so the chickens were locked out. However, the port for the solar panel is on the bottom edge of the top panel and will mean that the cord will go in front of the left door; this make me worried about it eventually interfering with the door operation. It would be better if the port was on the top. I like the doors opening to the side, as I think it protects the chickens better. The operation of the doors opening is nice and smooth. You can set it to open or close by time, or by sun light. However, the sun light level has to be set by you. So you have to be around to get the right level of sun when you want it to open, and when you want it to close. My last door had a good level set already for dusk and dawn, so I didn't have to set it. I prefer it that way and I think this is too much to set. So I just used the time function. However, dusk and dawn times vary widely between summer and winter. I wish it was preset. ... show more
