I bought this Autel KM100 because I wanted to program a backup key for my car without paying a fortune at the dealership. As a complete beginner to automotive programming, I was honestly terrified that I would accidentally brick my car's computer or get stuck on a confusing setup screen. The user interface is incredibly simple and acts just like a standard Android smartphone, so there was practically no learning curve to navigate the menus. The setup process was a breeze. ⭐☆☆☆☆ The Autel KM100E Is One of the Most Frustrating Tools I’ve Ever Purchased I wanted to love this tool. On paper it looks like an incredible value. In reality, it has been one disappointment after another. The biggest issue? Mine stopped powering on properly even after being fully charged. A key programmer is supposed to be reliable when you’re standing in front of a customer’s vehicle, not randomly refusing to work. Then there’s the battery life. This thing drains unbelievably fast. I’m talking one day of ownership with minimal use, only programming a single vehicle, and the battery is already dead. For a portable tool that’s supposed to be carried around, that’s unacceptable. And don’t even get me started on the USB C charging port. Autel advertises USB C, but apparently it’s incredibly picky about what charger and cable you use. I own multiple high quality USB C PD chargers that charge laptops, tablets, and phones without issue, yet the KM100E refuses to charge with many of them. Instead, you’re forced to use the included cheap USB A to USB C cable like it’s 2015. What’s the point of adding USB C if you aren’t going to properly support the USB C charging standard? Those issues alone would have been enough for me to return it. But the software and connectivity side is just as frustrating. Autel continues to lose functions that people actually buy these tools for. Features like All Keys Lost (AKL) capabilities have become increasingly restricted or removed in certain regions due to security regulations and licensing requirements. That may not be entirely Autel’s fault, but it’s still a huge disappointment when customers buy a tool expecting functionality they saw in older videos, only to discover it’s no longer available on their device. Coverage can also be inconsistent. One vehicle works flawlessly while another requires additional hardware, bypass cables, online authorization, or simply isn’t supported the way you expected. It often feels like you’re spending more time researching workarounds than actually programming keys. To top it all off, software updates sometimes change functionality without making it obvious what has changed, leaving users wondering whether they’re dealing with a bad tool, bad documentation, or simply another feature that quietly disappeared. I bought this tool expecting reliability. Instead, I got battery issues, charging issues, questionable hardware quality, and shrinking functionality. For something that’s supposed to save time and make key programming easier, it’s done the exact opposite. I can’t recommend the KM100E based on my experience.

I wanted something reliable and I saw this brand appeared on my feed a few times and I saw more people using it so I felt good about buying this brand, and it was a good choice so far. This didn't disappoint and it was easy to use and connect. The set up was kind of simple the touchscreen is great, is responsive, accurate and fast so good on those points. Even though I have little experience on these scanners it was pretty simple and I felt confident using it. This feels like its going to last and this thing offers lifetime updates so I don't have to waste more money on that compared to others I have seen they have limited updates.
