    • Works fine, more of a curiosity these days.
Style: ZenDrive Black USB 2.0 + Type C Size: U9M|Black
Most computers these days, be it desktop or laptop, do not come with optical drives. And honestly, there's a reason for it, flash drives are better in every respect; they are far faster, have much higher storage capacity, and are much more durable. *BUT* there's always seems that once or twice time a year where you need to get some data of a CD-ROM or DVD+/-R. This is a product for those times. I bought this external optical drive because my mother recently got a new desktop, it didn't come with an optical drive, but mom has stored all kinds of data on optical discs for the past 20+ years and was not about to give that up so I bought here this Asus Zendrive. It's not hard to use, you just plug it in to a USB port and that's about it, there aren't any drivers needed for Win10/11. It's not particularly noisy, the USB cable is a bit shorter than I'd like, but you can place the drive on top of the tower if you need to. These things aren't particularly expensive or anything, but at the same time, most people won't be using them regularly. It's on of those "If you need it, you need it" products. ... show more

    • Great backup drive - but... slides around table a bit.
Style: ZenDrive Black USB 2.0 + Type C Size: U9M|Black
I bought this as a backup to my internal drive for when I've got damaged or stubborn discs I'm trying to rip. I found some DVDs that my other drive couldn't even open on MakeMKV open up just fine and even rip with this. The opposite is true too, though, that some things that this disc can't get my main drive can. It's great as a backup and opens and rips fast. My one complaint is that the drive slowly buzzes across the table as you use it. It either needs larger rubber grips, or a heavier unit to compensate for the spin of the disc. ... show more

    • Very dissapointed
Style: ZenDrive Black USB 2.0 + Type C Size: U9M|Black
The ZenDrive arrived quickly, but when I tried to use it, the eject button would not open the draw. The draw did open if I used the manual release, which was not shown in the instructions. I just figured the small hole located next to the eject button was intended for that purpose. With a cd installed. My laptop did read the contents. I'm returning the drive for a replacement, figuring that I wouldn't be so unlucky to receive two defective units Hats off to Amazon for making to return and replacement request so easy. UPDATE: Amazon replaced the DVD drive the following day. Well done. The replacement units is working fine. If it wasn't for the failure of the 1st unit, I would have given it 5 stars. ... show more

    • Actually works, unlike cheaper alternatives.
Style: ZenDrive Black USB 2.0 + Type C Size: U9M|Black
Headline: Drive works, unlike competitors. This is the third drive I've tried, after going with cheaper versions. The first drive was a "ROOFULL" and was never even recognized as plugged in. The second was an "ORIGBELIE ", and couldn't read DVDs, although it could intermittently read CDs. It's a little more expensive, but the best value because it's easy and it works. ... show more
