  • The extended warranty paid off
I recommend an extended warranty on any electronic product that is expensive. I really don’t understand people spending $1000 on a television and not springing for the extended warranty. As a note of clarification, in-home service means they come into your home pick up the TV and take it away to service it. Your TV set will not be serviced inside your home. At least not in my experience. But in the end they gave me a complete refund for what I had paid for the TV two years ago. Since prices have gone down in those two years I upgraded to an even bigger TV when they told me that my set was totaled. And when I bought my new TV, of course I bought the extended warranty again.   • They made good
First, they paid the claim ! I feared they would be another 'Square Trade experience' where I paid but had no warranty. It was not but it was difficult to initiate the claim. Even tho I bought the product & warranty from Amazon at the same time, I had to register the warranty. I had to take a screenshot of the invoice then upload it, something Amazon's computers should have done but okay, they want me to jump thru hoops. The nightmare scenario I then faced was Asurion's website stated the information I entered directly from the Amazon invoice was incorrect. I had to spend so much time ON THE PHONE IN THIS MODERN AGE ! I feared this was another Sq Trade cheat but the rep was polite and went the extra mile to make sure a tech came to my home. Sadly, they could not get parts in a timely manner so Asurion wrote me a check for the full amount I paid for the Sony TV 2 years earlier. Unlike other extended warranty companies, they take care of their customers. I just bought a new TV from Amazon and I bought another Asurion warranty. I suggest anyone who buys a new piece of gear go for the Asurion warranty, if you need them, they'll be there to help. BTW, it would be 5 stars if it wasn't so hard to get the process started. I wish Amazon would register the product at the time of purchase but regardless, Asurion has a customer for life in this happy camper. ... show more

  • Fast Acting!
My Samsung Frame TV bit the dust after 2 years. Luckily I took out the 4 year Asurion warranty. I dug up the warranty information, went to the Asurion website and put it all. Hardest part was getting the TV's serial number which involved me having to take the TV down off the mount to get it off the back of the TV. Repair person showed up THE NEXT DAY. Verified that day the panel was bad and Asurion let me know that same day that they would be refunding me the full purchase cost of the TV so that I could replace it. The check was sent over night to me and I have a brand new TV hanging on my wall again with a new Asurion insurance policy on it. For once, taking out an extended warranty paid off and it worked seamlessly! Well worth the extra cost. ... show more

  • I wish I hadn't needed it, but I'm glad I had it.
Anytime I buy something for $500 or more, I get whatever protection plan might be offered. I've used Asurion before (cellphone issues) and they really saved my bacon. This time, I spent the extra $150 on a protection plan when buying a new 75" T.V. Two years after that purchase, the manufacturer (Hisense) sent out a firmware update that killed the T.V. dead. And they told me tough luck, because naturally the warranty was for only 1 year. Asurion promptly put me in contact with a local repair shop, which was unable to fix the thing for whatever reason, and Asurion ended up sending me a check for the T.V.'s original sale price. Within a couple of days I had a new T.V. on order (NOT from Hisense), and it's fantastic. I bought another protection plan for it, but hopefully I'll never need it! ... show more

This is a product that is hard to rate since I haven't needed to use it. The process was easy. So hopefully if I ever need it everything will go smoothly. Too soon to know if it is worth 5 stars.
