I had ordered hearing aids two years ago, and had purchased an Asurion protection plan for three years. One of hearing aids stopped charging after two years. I completed a claim on line and was sent necessary information to address the issue. Process was easy for 80 year person to understand. As end result, Asurion refunded the full price and applied it to Amazon account. I have since ordered a replacement and added the Asurion protection plan.

Our Dyson hair dryer went dead 3 months before the warranty ended and we had the Asurion protection plan. Within 15-20 minutes on the phone with them, they processed our claim and sent us the prepaid return form. The next day, when we dropped off the return at the ups store, within a few hours of the return being dropped off, Asurion had sent us an amazon gift card for the entire purchase price of the dryer.

When I bought a set of hearing aids, I decided that it would probably be a good idea to get the extra protection "just in case". See, I normally don't unless it's something known to have a problem worth needing it. Six months after purchase, the left ear bud stopped working. Asurion was easy to work with. They helped me through the required steps. Asurion really doesn't charge alot for their protection plans. They sure are worth it if something goes wrong.

For electric/electronics in particular, companies come and go, so I like the assurance that this modest cost adder (an asurion extended warranty), brings to taking a chance on product and/or vendors. Plus, when recently required to return such a product within the 30 days covered by Amazon Prime, asurion made it equally easy to cancel the asurion extended warranty I had brought to go with that item. Beyond that, I'll recommend NOT purchasing two asurion warranties at the same time, and on the same order, as it's difficult to tell the difference. It's better to combine each product-plus-extended-warranty on different orders.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I figured purchasing asurion protection on my Philips Sonicare toothbrush. Since the last one did not last 3 years. And I had to replace the one purchased with the asurion protection started turning on by itself and became hard to turn off and on. Within a week got a gift card for the purchase price. Of course I ordered another toothbrush with the protection.
