I’ve been a fan of semi-perm brands, with Arctic Fox being a favorite, for a while now. I love the ease of use, lasting results, great smell, lack of damage and the ability to customize colors through blending and diluting. I’ve had purple, silver, pink, blue, and teals in my hair over time. However; I want to share about my current use as it isn’t the “apply to pale blonde hair” experience most need. If you can’t tell from the above… I was very blonde for a while. My hair is naturally soft black. So a lot of bleaching happened. Ever since, the parts that were blonde have been unable to hold permanent color well. I’d been maintaining this very blah medium blonde to combat this. When I couldn’t take anymore, I applied a Wella permenant dye. To no surprise, my regrowing looked beautiful and my mid lengths to ends were various shades of muddied and watered down color. Hair masks (love Four Reasons) were helping to even things out but they didn’t last past a shampoo or two. I knew the staining factor of arctic fox would last but didn’t want bright fashion colors. Thanks to the internet I found that mixing Sunset Orange with a dash of a dark purple will make a more neutral copper. It’s easy to make your mix in a bowl and play with it to your preferences by adding little bits of purple at a time. I applied my mix for an hour on damp hair. Again, I started fairly red on the top half, medium muddy blonde on the bottom half. The results are a punched up copper that still isn’t “too” much. My color has held from roots to ends and has a fun highlighted effect that is still very cohesive caused by the varying damage in my hair. Long story short- don’t discount this brand just because you want more natural looking color. Save yourself the damage and see if Google has an arctic fox mixture instead. ... show more

I have pretty medium dark brown hair. I used to be blond, but it darkened as I aged. Anytime I want to color my hair I go for this brand. It actually colors over dark hair without bleach. I'm unsure how it works with black hair, but it covers up my dark brown just fine. I'm super messy when dyeing my hair, I've only done it a handful of times in my life. I'm not coordinated with my hands, so I tend to get it all over my skin. That isn't an issue with this dye because it does not stain. My shower has never been dyed red, my forehead isn't left looking like I have a rash from the dye, and it comes off my hands if I get it on them. You do have to leave this dye in for a long time if you want it to deeply color your hair and stay colored for a while, as it does rinse out a bit each time you shampoo. The first 3 showers after you dye your hair will result in a lot of bright colored water running down your drain, but don't be alarmed, it doesn't fade drastically from washing. What can I say about this product? Well I have purchased three different colors and I absolutely loved the purple AF but to be honest with you I'm totally in love with the virgin pink! I have only had this on for 2 days but it did not disappoint in the brightness of the color. The purple lasted for at least a month and I'm hoping this one will too but for anyone who is allergic to sulfates or parabens and any other type of those nasty additives in hair dye, this is definitely the product to go with. It may not be a permanent and you have to dye it at least once a month however when I was using regular permanent dye before from other companies I still had to dye my hair once a month so I would rather have something that is good on my hair, which by the way makes my hair really soft and silky, then to have something that makes my hair coarse and split ends. I love this dye honestly! It smells good, applies super well, and the PIGMENT! I got Transylvania and did this split dye look. If you look though, it bled into the white when I went to rinse it and made it a denim blue, which I didn’t want but it doesn’t look bad. I also applied it to my bleached hair and it didn’t turn green, but I do add a ton of silver to it (if you have bleach blonde hairs, yours probably won’t turn out rich blue black but probably green so make sure you fill it). I love that it’s a dark raven black, doesn’t have any red or bronze to it. My recommendation is if you’re doing a split dye with a lighter color, use a black that needs developed so that way it doesn’t bleed when you wash it out in the shower. This dye does stain, SUPER BAD lol but bleach in the shower and a good exfoliation will do the trick with the aftermath. Overall, if you wanna live your goth girl dreams, this dye is very fun to work with if you know what you’re doing because it can be a little unforgiving. Lol ... show more

I used wrath and was not disappointed! This dye kicks others to the curb, esp compared against overtone. It has a very subtle smell and it is such a gentle product. I am sensitive to hair products with sensitive skin, and this did not cause any irritation or burning sensation. I literally forgot I had it in my hair while coloring. I didn't quite follow directions.... I put it on dry hair for an hour (no cap) and washed it out with hot water. I LOVE the result! I had previously used frosé but it was too light for my liking, although pretty. Perhaps putting wrath over light pink caused it to be more pink toned than red. But I dig it for sure! At my roots, you can also see it colored my natural light brown hair. Excited to see how long it lasts! ... show more
