Has the typical cherry candy smell of all Arctic Fox products. My boyfriend asked why my hair was fruity. You need bleached hair at a level nine or ten for vibrant yellow, or it will lean more towards orange-ish yellow. My hair is only on it's first process with the ends being lighter than the middle so it created a mixed tone. It starts fading after about 2-3 washes depending on the harshness of your shampoo, and your rinse temperature (always wash and rinse hair in cold water to make color last longer). Pro tip, cover your sink with a towel you don't mind staining, wear gloves to apply and rinse off as well. I recommend this with all hair dye. If you get it on your skin, rub gently with nail polish remover on a cotton ball, takes it right off. This works for sinks and tubs too if you use it fresh. Make sure to use some petroleum jelly on your hairline and anywhere you don't want to stain your skin. Use a plastic hair cap to allow it to develop better and not dry out during processing.

I used the colors Violet Dream, Poison, Sunset Orange, and Cosmic Yellow. Let me tell you... I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PRODUCT! My head smelled like Willy Wonka's factory. Grapalicious! It is true to pigment as well, permitting that you start with white blond hair like I did. I gently bleached my hair for 3 months before application so I wouldn't damage my fine hair. And I might add that these dyes are also super conditioning. I left the colors blended from root to ends for almost 9 hours. Better than any hair mask out there because POW PIGMENT! With little staining other then some spots I didn't see to wipe up and were left for hours, it washed right off. And I rinsed in my hair in my white porcelain tub. NO STAINING! I cannot praise Arctic Fox enough. And even after a few washings there is minimal bleeding. And all the colors are lightening, not tinting or fading. I get complimented all the time, which I then inform people of the wondrous products. Definitely buying more, and only from the actual Arctic Fox linked Amazon page. First photo collage is the morning after dye application, second photo a week after, third photo two weeks after.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a professional and I have no training but I looooove this color so much. I started with a copperish/orange color, did some bleach treatments to prep then used Sunset Orange on the midlength, Cosmic Sunshine on the tips, and Poison on the top to get this ombre effect. I have fairly thick hair and used about half of each 8oz bottle, and I was liberal with my application. My hair was NOT blonde prior to using the dye but the colors still turned out super vibrant which was pleasantly surprising! I did not want to have to bleach too much and cause damage so I expected the colors to be more muted but they turned out so bright and vibrant despite my hair not being very blonde. I've only washed once since dyeing so I can't speak to the longevity but it doesn't seem to have faded much at all after one wash so that's good news. It has very minor stained my shower floor but that's to be expected, nothing a little bleach can't fix. I also love that this brand is cruelty free and vegan. I am already plotting the next colors I want to use!!! Update: as of April I have now purchased over 10 colors and used various mixes of them to create amazing gradients. The blue was a little difficult to strip out but not overly so and it was ultimately was covered up beautifully by the pink/purple anyway. I'm always plotting what color combos I'm going to do next!!

This color sticks and comes out the perfect color. Almost the exact color on the bottle. I’d share a pick but I have green blue and yellow so you can’t see the yellow stand alone. I love this brand!

ETA: The smell isn't going away. I cannot believe that after multiple shampoos we're still being treated to this stench. It is way, WAY too potent, this long after application, to be what I'd consider normal for any beauty product. Apparently there may be an issue with the Cosmic Sunshine formula sold here so maybe avoid that one? Yuck. Original review: Hubby really likes it and since it’s on his head, it’s all gravy baby. However, ours turned out darker than I expected and a bit of a brassy orange rather than the more golden yellow or ‘electric mustard’ I’d hoped for. While I know AF makes a truer, brighter highlighter-yellow called Neon Moon, based on the pics for Cosmic Sunshine I was still expecting a sunnier yellow shade than we ended up with. You can see from my ‘Before’ pic that hubby’s light brown hair bleached out, with very little brassiness, to about a 8.5 level. (Speaking of, Cosmic Sunshine really reminds me of the color my naturally black hair turns when I bleach…I associate this shade with something you try to get rid of rather than add in). Over the years I’ve only ever used Manic Panic on my own hair; this was the first time I’ve worked with AF. I found the consistency very easy to apply—not too drippy, not too thick— but as for the folks who love the scent of this? Um, ewww. Because I found it quite off-putting, kinda like rotten eggs meets mentholated wintergreen oil; hours later, I could still smell hubby’s hair from well across the room. As for our process: applied to clean hair, left on (covered in a plastic cap) a bit over an hour, applied heat, rinsed. The rinse off was a little tricky since it was quite thick and stubborn to get a movin’ on out and I ended up putting gloves back on as it was staining me. Whether I adore the color or not, it did turn out very evenly and that’s always a plus. And per AF’s claims, nothing about this formula further damaged the hair. Hubby is happy with his sun glow and if *he* sees more yellow than orange there, well, again that’s what matters. FYI, just doing his 3” mohawk took about 3/4 of the 8 oz bottle. I’d recommend at least 2 bottles if you have long/thick hair, especially if you’re applying to a fresh and thirsty bleach job.

Here are a couple pictures of my daughter’s hair after I dyed it ‘Cosmic Sunshine’ by Arctic Fox. It came out beautifully!! We have been using Arctic fox colors on her, and her friends hair religiously since 2017 now because we always get vibrant colors that lasts at least 2 months, and the colors don’t bleed on clothes or bed sheets. My daughter’s hair is naturally dirty blonde, so I will lighten it up with L’Oreal Quick Blue Extra Strength Powder Lightener, mixed with L’Oeral Oreor 20 Volume Crème Developmenter to lighten her hair to ensure the color will hold brighter & longer. I also use Ion Pre-Color Treatment, prior to lightening her hair to protect her hair from damage & have her use Ion Color Defense After Color Sealer both after rinsing the color out of her hair and once a week for the next 4-5 weeks to preserve the color.
