We've had this unit for a year-plus now so are used to it and how it runs. Still going strong to keep a large open basement around 44% humidity after that length of time, and fully anticipate several more years out of it at the least. By this point our previous big-box-consumer-grade little unit would have died (again). Happy we bought this large-capacity one, by the specs we could have gone smaller but hopefully the larger size means not only faster dehumidification, but less stress on the unit for longer life. ... show more

I marked off one star due to my questioning the accuracy of the humidity percentage (although it can be adjusted "biased" +/- 5 percent in the setup menu if you prefer). I have approximately 2500 sq ft of space it is working on. I also have a couple of humidity indicators inside that are not far from the returns for the ac system. I plumbed this for a return to supply situation and mounted the unit directly above my ac/furnace and it is not wired into the ac controls although that can be done. I have calculated the water removal at about 6.5 gallons per day for my situation were it to run full time which is doesn't. I think the humidity would have to be really high to get the advertised 130 pints per day. I think it would make more water during the summer. We keep the house about 70 degrees or less in the winter and I have not used it in the summer yet. It has been working about a month now in central texas. My humidity level in a foam insulated house was almost consistently about 66 percent. Now it stays about 50 to 53 percent with this system running although I set the unit to 45 percent, thus the accuracy question. It runs a lot and you can hear it a bit through the returns and vents but half as loud as our ac unit and the fan and compressor seem to run smoothly. The unit sounds quiet from just outside the unit but with the considerable amount of air it moves, it can be heard drawing air through the vents and returns. I did call customer service with a few questions before purchase and they were very good. I did verify that if purchased from Amazon as the seller that they would honor the warranty. There are other sellers on Amazon which do not qualify, but if the seller is AMAZON, it is covered. I also verified, Ebay sellers do not qualify as authorized resellers so buyer beware. As to longevity, who knows. My research says they can last 15 years, but you never know. Overall, I am pleased with the unit and am looking forward to a much drier, cooler summer experience indoors. 66 percent is just too high for my liking. One big tell that it is working is that my wife's orchids began dying since they don't like dry air, so be aware of that. Also, as with any dehumidifier, it will put out warmer air than comes in. Unlike an ac condenser mounted outside, this unit has everything inside of it so the warm air has to go somewhere. One other thing to mention is that it will run until the humidity percent is 3 percent less than what you set it to before it turns off. You could set it 3 percent higher if that bothers you. ... show more

What a difference this unit made in the overall comfort of our house. Wish I would have done this years ago. Make sure you have a qualified installer. Also, be patient, it can take days and sometimes longer to lower and maintain your overall house humidity level. Dont panic.
