I purchased an MacBook and AppleCare+ at the same time. A day/two after the purchase I received an email from Amazon that the AppleCare+ was in software and go to digital download. When I downloaded it was just the agreement. Then I started reading all the negative reviews on nightmare experience with Amazon and AppleCare+ not being added. I was very nervous and mentally prepare for the nightmare that lie ahead which having to call Amazon multiple times and then having to call Apple multiple times. To my surprise, right after Amazon delivered the MacBook (I got notification your item was delivered) I got another email from Amazon that AppleCare+ was added the laptop with agreement number and serial number of the laptop I received. I checked Apple's coverage site and sure enough Apple site showed AppleCare+ coverage tied the MacBook. I didn't even open the box or turn it on and see the AppleCare+ coverage. Hopefully this gives some insight to future buyers of AppleCare+ from Amazon!!!

DO NOT PURCHASE COVERAGE THRU AMAZON - SCAM

I wish I would've read the reviews before adding this to my Mac Air purchase, silly me, won't make that mistake again. Purchasing Apple Care coverage thru Amazon is a SCAM. In order for your coverage subscription to actually be attached to the device/product you're buying (in my case, a Mac Air), the serial number of the device has to be registered with the coverage WITH APPLE. Amazon has no way (apparently) of registering your device and the coverage you buy, with Apple. So if you need a repair, Apple will have no record of your device being covered with this subscription - since the subscription was never registered with your serial number. It took me two weeks and five different Amazon reps for one to finally be transparent with me and tell me that "Amazon is just the retailer of this subscription, they can't actually do any customer service for it". Meaning the five months I've been paying for Apple Care Plus coverage and THINKING I was covered - I was literally paying for nothing, no applicable coverage whatsoever. So now I have a water repair from an accident on this new Mac and I'll likely have to pay full cost out of pocket because my coverage protection was never registered with my device (which I cannot afford at present). A lot of these reviews at least got some bogus pdf document with their purchase, I never even got that. To top it all off, the current Amazon rep admitted how unfair this is and still can't even process or allow a refund for my months of paying for something I don't even have. COMPLETE SCAM. Looks like the Apple Care Plus coverage monthly option on their site is also $7-8 / mo, so for the love of God just purchase it through Apple instead of Amazon, since Amazon is absolutely useless in this regard.

Easy and worked seamlessly with the new Apple MacBook Pro

This was our first (Apple MacBook Pro M4) and big purchase directly on Amazon. I was not concerned about the order and product, but more concerned about the AppleCare+ not being connected directly to the device (after reading some reviews). However, I am happy to report that this was the first thing I checked as soon as we set up our computer. We are set for 3 years ... so thank you, Amazon and Apple, for working out the backend stuff and making our lives easier. It worked for us. It was easy, and I am happy with the overall quality of the process. Oh, don't forget it was cheaper than buying yearly from Apple directly.

Works half the time

Go ahead and believe the poor reviews. The 50% fulfillment rate is correct. I purchased AppleCare plus for a MacBook Air in June 2026 and it linked quite well and there were no problems. I received an email a few days after purchase with proof of purchase of AppleCare plus linked to the serial number of the laptop, which was in transit. However, I purchased the exact same MacBook Air with AppleCare plus again in August 2026, but the AppleCare plus was not linked to the computer. Phone discussions with Apple and Amazon and nobody could help. Apple states that Amazon physically has to link the serial number of the sold device with the AppleCare plus. Apple cannot do that. It must be done by Amazon. When I talk to Amazon, nobody knows what I'm talking about and has no idea how to do that. Nobody knows who to contact to get that done on the Amazon side. After long discussion on the telephone, I have requested a refund which they say they are processing - hopefully I get it. So my experience is pretty much the same as everyone else's. Works half the time. Probably worth paying the extra money to get it through Apple directly.

I read a lot of comments that said there was an issue with their purchase of AppleCare+, I did not have any of those experiences. AppleCare+ was on the laptop (MacBook Air, 13-inch 2025) automatically. I received an email with my confirmation of AppleCare+ coverage, along with my agreement number, product serial number and expiration date. There was nothing I needed to do on my end, because as I said it had already been added to my computer and attached to my iCloud account. — I hate that there are so many bad experiences and hope everything works out for anyone experiencing a nightmare but I can only recommend based on my experience, 10/10.

SCAM!!! DO NOT buy!

This is a scam. They do not email you the agreement # and that is required for Apple to do any work. I have been on the phone with Amazon for over an hour trying to get it and now I am fighting to get a refund. Now I have to replace the screen for $800 and may not get my money back for the Apple Care warranty.

Was skeptical at first but decided to pull the plug and get the m4 laptop with 3 years of apple care and it works. Haven't even opened an email or anything, laptop was still fresh out of the box. When I remembered I bought apple care and decided to check. Applied instantly as far as I know once I linked my apple account on the first boot up with internet! Good stuff

Don't buy AppleCare from Amazon, won't "attach" to your device automatically

As another reviewer said, Amazon should not be allowed to sell digital items like these and fail to deliver them. That's called a scam. I have yet to receive my AppleCare agreement, but Amazon was more than glad to charge my Amex right away. Purchasing AppleCare from Amazon will only get you to a download of a PDF of the general terms and conditions, from your "Software Library", but it is not YOUR actual user agreement, and will not register on your device. Amazon will not help either, they will refer you to Apple support, and Apple will tell you that without an Agreement Number, they can't apply your AppleCare to your device. Since the PDF Amazon directs you to is a simple General Terms and Conditions document, there is no Agreement Number. In addition, the purchase invoice doesn't show this Agreement Number nor the device's Serial Number (which Amazon claims is recorded with the purchase... it's not) Save yourself the headache, and buy AppleCare direct from Apple, it will be about $60 more, but the "savings" is not worth dealing with this Amazon stuff. Amazon will also refuse to process a refund, stating that "only Apple can do that". Guess Amazon is telling you to contact your credit card and initiate a chargeback for services not received as paid.
