I recently received my iPad. I was a little skeptical at first, because it’s hard to know what condition a renewed product is in without seeing it first. I had been looking at these models for a while, and after watching many reviews about the new M1 iPad, I decided that this would be the right model for me. With Apple’s increased price on the new 12.9” iPad, to me, it made more sense to go with an older iPad with more storage capacity. Most reviews I have read about the iPad processors said that even the processor in the 2018 model was overkill for most apps. I do not use this device for pro level tasks, so my needs may not be as much as others. On to the iPad I received. If I didn’t know that this was a refurbished product, there would be no way to tell. There are no scratches or signs of use on the body and the screen is flawless. It looks like it came right out of an Apple box. I did have a problem with the charging cable, and the seller was super responsive. My issue was resolved quickly and in a very courteous manner. I have seen other reviews on Amazon where buyers were not so happy. Since there is a 90 day Amazon guarantee on renewed products, I figured the risk was low if I did receive a dud and I could just get a new iPad. I am very happy that I chose to go with a refurbished iPad. If you choose to purchase a renewed iPad, keep in mind that it is renewed, not brand new, so YMMV.     • SCAM - please read this first !
I bought the “Excellent Condition Refurbished” for $800. Now I say scam because there is a possibility that you end up with a $800 BRICK that you can’t do anything with. I bought mine beginning of February in preparation for an animation class. Towards the end of April I’m finally ready to use it and all of a sudden it gets stuck in a reboot loop so it’s unusable. I consulted the internet and Apple tech support to diagnose and they said it’s a battery issue. I try to contact the Amazon store about sending it back for repair. All the bot tells me is that my warranty is no longer valid and if I had bought the EXTENDED warranty. I did not because I’ve never damaged a device and I trusted a refurbished product from Amazon (big mistake). I did not have the money to pay for a battery replacement at the time. So now beginning of December, I’m calling multiple repair shops including Best Buy for a quote. This is an older generation IPad and no one had the part in stock. I try taking it directly to Apple and by this time, the iPad doesnt even reboot loop, it’s just dead. The rep tells me they don’t do repairs on refurbished products because they do not use Apple parts and may further damage it. He also told me that they also will not take it for trade in nor credits. I will have to buy a brand new one Currently I’ve been trying to contact the seller to see what my options are. TERRIBLE SERVICE. During this entire week Ive gotten ONE response and it was from a bot. I’m hoping this review will finally get their attention. Needless to say, I am beyond frustrated and upset. I feel cheated and do not just have another $800 lying around. If you do, proceed at your own risk. First thoughts were that the packaging of the product could have been better. But the iPad has really been great - no issues whatsoever, and the battery life exceeds what I was expecting from a refurbished product. Great buy for the money!
