Description

Is reMarkable like a regular tablet computer? No, it is a purpose-built digital notebook for distraction-free handwriting, sketching, reading, and document markup. It deliberately lacks web browsers and apps by design to protect your focus. Can I read books on it, and is there an app store? There is no app store. You can read books, but it only supports DRM-free EPUB and PDF files. DRM-protected ebooks, such as those purchased from Kindle or Kobo, are not supported. Is it normal to see screen ghosting on the display? Yes, ghosting is completely normal for E-Ink displays, where traces of previously displayed images sometimes remain partially visible on the screen. It clears when the screen refreshes, so there's nothing to worry about. Why does my reMarkable feel slower than a regular tablet? It feels slightly slower because the display physically moves particles through liquid, rather than switching pixels on and off. This takes a fraction of a second longer to protect the display's long-term health, but is normal. What system and handwriting languages are supported? System languages include English, German, French, and Spanish. The handwriting conversion feature supports over 30 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and many others.

  • I'm Done With Paper Notebooks!!!
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle
I recently started a new job. The CEO got tired of misplaced or illegible notes, so the Remarkable 2 became a requirement for the Executive Team. I have a short attention span and habitually take notes during meetings/discussions, so I've always loved a good notebook. I was skeptical and a little annoyed when I was told a $500 "notebook" was a requirement for my new role. After a week of use, I'll never take notes on paper again. While it is a digital device, the Remarkable 2 isn't much more complicated than a legal pad. It's every bit as thin as a standard notepad, and the sensation of writing is surprisingly close to pen and paper. It wakes from sleep instantly, and and is surprisingly responsive. The ability to create and organize new notes is incredible, and navigating your library is fast and simple. There are so many templates I haven't had time to use a fraction of them. If you can't find a suitable template, you can create a PDF and upload it. Your notes are synced to your Remarkable account and can be viewed online in near real-time. The Remarkable 2 is expensive, but I find it worth the price. I no longer have to keep up with multiple notebooks, or flip through pages at the start of a meeting. My only complaints are that it charges very slowly and if you use it throughout the day every day like me, the battery life is less than impressive. Otherwise it's an excellent alternative to paper without the complications of a normal tablet. ... show more

  • Game Changers
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle
The ReMarkable2 is making my life easier daily. I am still learning to use it and leverage the features it contains yet in a few short weeks it is making my work/side hustle/personal life easier. A few simple positives: It is simplistic. It does one thing and it does it well. It is distraction free. Basic usage is intuitive. Intermediate usage is pretty intuitive with a little guidance. I still need to dive into training videos to become a power user. I appreciated the packaging came in recyclable containers. The ability to write, erase, and move text is super simple. Organizing is easy once you understand the Folder/Notebook/Quick Sheets structure. I spent 3 days in a seminar recently. I was able to download the PDF notebook (over 200 pages of documents) into my ReMarkable and then write my notes on the document. I will upload the document back to Dropbox to save/print off later. I had the option of writing my notes on the document or using a Layer (think clear sheet) that I could write on and turn the 2nd layer off if I wanted to see the main document without my notes. That wasn't an issue for me. Later, I did have one page with checklists I needed to use 3 times so I chose to use the Layers for each use and then remove them when I didn't need it anymore. At work, I have a weekly meeting that traditionally has been one sheet of paper per week and then keeping up with each piece of paper as I needed to go back and review. With the Notebook feature, I now have those meeting notes going into one document that I will add to each week. It's easy to find and no lost pieces of paper. I also have a coaching practice and this allows me to keep notes on clients in one running document instead of multiples I must file and track. Two things for the creators to consider - first, it would be easier to read downloaded documents with a lighter/color screen. That said, the existing screen didn't stop me from accomplishing what I wanted to accomplish. Second, a pen loop would be helpful as the magnetic pencil can come unattached. That said, placing the ReMarkable with the binder edge down and pencil on top in my bag helps. I think I have now sold 6 of these to family and friends. At the recent conference there were a few of us who had the ReMarkable2 and we met during a break to share notes and unanimous enthusiasm for this tool. It is fantastic. ... show more

  • A Notebook that's been Enchanted with Magic
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle
12 hours after unpacking my reMarkable 2, I wrote the following post on my FB page and I figure it translates pretty well into a product review. Here were my thoughts after 12 hours: I bought an e-Notebook called reMarkable 2, and it is the best thing in the world. Here's what you can do with it: Create folders, each containing as many notebooks as you like, each notebook formatted differently. You can have a notebook that's lined, a to-do list, weekly planner, yearly calendar, etc. There are thousands of downloadable formats. You can write, draw, download PDF's, download books, write on those, erase what you've written and start all over again, cut, copy, paste, resize, rotate, convert handwriting to text, and make it searchable. You can screen-share, upload to the cloud, email documents, and you have 9 writing tools to do all of that. You can create layers so you can quiz yourself by hiding what's beneath and then revealing it by removing a layer. There's so much more, and I have only started playing with it last night. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes! Here, see for yourself... (and then I posted pics and a video) ... show more

  • Beware the restocking fee!
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle
I am going to start with the positive. I love the reMarkable 2. I changed jobs and my new role requires a ton of notes and organization of those notes. ReMarkable has made that achievable and enjoyable. The paper-like writing is unparalleled. The functions took a little getting used to, but it is pretty intuitive. I liked it so much I decided to upgrade to the paper pro. I am glad I did so. The touch screen is more responsive and I like the back light. I feel like it is a smoother experience than with the reMarkable 2. I don’t regret upgrading, but what I do regret is the price. I could have bought a laptop…a nice one. As great as it is for what it does, the price is painful especially for the fact that it doesn’t do a lot of other functions. That is why I am giving it 4 stars. Minus one for the exorbitant price. They twisted the knife when I upgraded and was charged $87 for restocking the reMarkable 2! $87! To restock it, so I could pay $200 more for the paper pro. Come on! That is a bit ridiculous. Obviously, I have paid it and I am keeping it, but a word to the wise. If you are thinking of trying it and even though you return it during your 30 day return time, you will still be out $87 for restocking and another $6 return shipping. So almost $100 to try it that you will not get back if your return it. I am sure that was somewhere in the fine print and I missed it. This is my gift to you in case you like your $100. ... show more

  • Quality Problems
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle
2-YEAR UPDATE: Steer clear of this product and especially this company. I'm bumping my original review down to just 1 star. My original was replaced by support and lasted for about 1.5 years before running into the exact same issue. I tried getting it replaced because this is clearly a hardware fault from the vendor, but the best they could do was sell me a refurbished tablet for about $150; that's fair, since it's outside of warranty, so I paid the fee for a replacement. They told me to send back everything the tablet came with, so I included the marker since that's what my tablet came with when I purchased it here. The refurbished tablet they sent back did not include a marker, which alone is worth $130, so now I'm out of a marker. I'm in contact with support to get this resolved but this entire ordeal has just added weeks to frustration with a hardware defect. If your tablet drains to 0 and doesn't charge, use a trickle charger (original charger plugged into a laptop or PC) for 48 hours. If it doesn't wake up after that, your tablet is completely dead. This is an unacceptable hardware flaw for a mobile product. The company has additionally been pushing out their "Connect" (subscription) wherever they can in your tablet experience for months now. Being pushed a subscription on top of the exorbitant cost of this "premium" tablet is unacceptable. I like the product, but the company seems to be neglecting a crucial hardware flaw and has been aggressively pushing out their subscription model to everyone. I'm not the only person who's run into this issue or had these frustrations. The next time my tablet breaks, I'm going to one of their competitors. ORIGINAL REVIEW: When this product works, it's great. The problem is that it only worked for a week before it malfunctioned; my tablet doesn't charge, doesn't hold a charge, and doesn't turn on. When I looked up the issue, I discovered that there are a lot people who have encountered problems with charging and power. It looks like there are serious quality control problems with this product. I'm contacting support for a return. Hopefully the replacement they send me will work for longer than a week. ... show more

  • Love this device!
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle
I hesitated because of price but this product has changed my work-life for the better. As an HR representative, I struggled with organizing notes, and I take notes on EVERYTHING. The tagging feature I absolutely revolutionary for me. I can keep all of my notes in one place, in a portable, light device that I can also link to my computer. I love porting over documents to take notes on. The pen options are perfect for a wide range of uses. It stays charged for a decent amount of time considering I am using it all day every day. I didn’t bother buying an expensive ReMarkable brand cover for it, so I got an inexpensive off brand one that works perfectly. The magnet feature on the pen has helps keep it from being misplaced. The eraser feature on the pen is amazing, too. It can be very precise, which is awesome. There are a couple of features that aren’t ideal for my uses. The first is the tip on the pen. The package includes extra tips, which is great but even when I’m consciously trying to write lightly, they wear out very quickly. There are off brand pen tips on the market but haven’t tried them yet. Another feature I wish the device had was being able to move typed text around on a page. It’s more feasible in the app than on the actual device, but you can’t in real time move text to different spots in the page, which is not the end of the world but definitely frustrating. ... show more
