Premium quality filter set lasts over 6 months for high performance impurity removal, while the membrane and post carbon filter last 2-4 years. Compatible for APEC 50 GPD Essence and all other standard size under counter reverse osmosis systems. 1st Stage: Sediment removal 5 micron 10" filter -removes dirt, particles, and rust. Protects and extends the life of the membrane and system. 2nd and 3rd Stage: Carbon block 10 micron 10" filter -gets rid of unpleasant chlorine, tastes, odors, cloudiness and colors. Also removes VOCs and other common harmful synthetics from the water. 4th stage: High rejection 50 GPD TFC reverse osmosis membrane. We bought these replacement filers as the old ones were 14 or so months old. The instructions indicate that we should replace 6-12 months. We have 4 adults and 2 kids in the house but we have moderate use of filter so we decided to wait a few extra months before replacing. When I took out the filters, the Stage 1 was dirty (Brown) but not too brown. So it may have been good for another couple of months. Stage 2 and 3 were gray (they come gray) so it was hard to tell if they were dirty as they did not really change color. In terms of replacement, it was about 10 minutes and 10 minute to let the water run to filter before we could use it. It was pretty easy. I would recommend using a towel to place under the system because water will drip when you remove the housings. We love these because they really do work. The taste of the water before and after these filters was different (changed for the better). We will be buying again when we run out! ... show more

The best under sink water filter in my opinion. These are the direct replacement filters. Make sure you read and follow the directions. Also, make sure the filter fits exactly as it should before screwing onto the unit, you don't want it to not seat correctly or twist and O-ring. It is a bit difficult to put the filter on vertically because the filter hole has to go over the nipple inside the unit on both ends so you get the right flow. Be patient. ... show more
