  • Love it
1 Year Update: second filter change and going strong. No issues. I stand by my review and think this is the best under sink, non-osmosis filter for almost anyone. I love the crisp water from this filter. I love the ease of install. I love the simple one-cartridge system. I love mostly the whole thing. But... the "clever" adapter that didn't need to be used when there's 3 simple pieces you can pick up at a hardware store that will do better. The fittings included will work OK, if you thread it perfectly and don't over tighten (which will cause restricted flow and/or leaks). They worked fine when I first installed it, but I was unhappy with how much the flow was slowed down. It wasn't awful, but was about 0.8 gpm, rather than the expected 1.5 gpm. My solution was 3 parts, which can be got online or at a hardware store. All sizes in inches. - One 3/8 x 3/8 compression brass coupling fitting (male x male) product #800759 (can use anyone's as long as it's male/male and 3/8 compression on both ends) This attaches the 3/8 female end of your faucet supply hose to one of the 2 JG Speedfit PEX connectors below. - Two John Guest Speedfit 3/8 x 3/8 female compression thread adapter. Item #PSEI6012U9P. It's a metal female compression collar on one side, and a 3/8 OD PEX connection on the other. If Sharkbite makes one, too, I couldn't find it but they may. The first JG adapter goes directly on the cold water supply stop valve. One end of the PEX line to the filter goes in, the other end of the line into the filter INLET. The second JG adapter goes on the M/M brass coupling mentioned above, which connects to the faucet line. PEX line from filter OUTLET > JG adapter > 3/8 brass coupling > faucet hose. Hopefully that helps someone else. May use thread tape at connections if you like. I didn't have to. Everything is secure and leak free. NO loss of flow rate at all. In case it worries anyone in humid climates like mine, the cold lines and filter body can condense on the outside, if you're seeing some moisture there after running the cold water a while. ... show more

  • Push those connectors in hard!!
I bought this as an upgrade to my Woder 10k filter. Both units have a filter cartridge that screws into a system head. Changing the filter is quite simple. Pros: I prefer the Claryum filter because it has much better NSF ratings than the Woder. It is considerably larger and heavier than the Woder 10k, suggesting that it is a more robust and effective filter. Cons: Having installed the Woder before, I had an idea about what I was getting into. Claryum installation is a bit tricky. The fittings are “shark bite“ type, meaning there is no screw on feature. You have to push the connecting hoses all the way into their fittings. (I would have preferred the screw on fittings found on the Woder.) Mine unit leaked from the diverter and from the system head at first. I had to really work on the connections until they were 100% pushed in. It works fine now. The plastic diverter, which attaches to your cold water main, works fine. But I can appreciate why some people found ways around it. With the Woder, You can connect everything with nothing more than two screw in hoses. I would prefer that, but so far this seems OK. Will update in a few months. ... show more

  • Good filter, even better Customer Service, even on Sunday
I wanted a direct to cold water connection as we have new countertops. This is a TALL filter so plan accordingly. I installed mine horizontally on the right side cabinet wall. I made a mistake requiring a call to Tech Support. I was delighted to see they were available on a Sunday afternoon. The agent I reached was a native English speaking American, not outsourced to some far away land. The agent was careful to understand my questions to look up and then help me. I had removed the plastic top on the filter head for ease of installation only to discover that the IN and OUT orientation markings were only on the plastic cap. So with the pieces apart, there was no way to determine the correct alignment. The agent pointed out that connection side of the cap where you insert the filter actually has and indexing mark. - a plastic ‘v’ or triangle - that matches a slot on the filter top. “Yep, I see that.” That mark goes to the rear - or against the wall. With that clue, I could properly align the cap top and reinstall the four screws on the cap. From there the installation is straight forward. All the water lines install easily. I read other reviews warning you not to over-tighten the plastic water line fitting, so I didn’t. Turned water back on, watched for leaks, and ran water through the filter for some time as the directions stated. I found the included full size installation template to be very helpful. I used a snap-punch to mark each hole then drilled them. NOTE TO MANUFACTURER: 1) put the “IN “ and “OUT” markings on the filter connector instead of or in addition to the plastic cap. 2) for the four screws on the top plastic cap, modify the current square alignment so two of the connections are narrower. That way the alignment is instantly obvious and cannot be confused. Two big thumbs up for both the product and the customer service weekend tech support. ... show more

  • Good Quality and Value
We looked for a while to find a balance. Quality water, and value. Reverse osmosis takes a lot of trace essential minerals out, and has a high ratio of waste (gallon of tap : to gallon of usable). This was a good fit. Pros - Water tastes clean - Doesn’t seem to contain a lot of particulates - Can be installed easily (in most cases) Cons - You may need to consider clearance. We have a small sink area so the installation was a bit challenging - If you install it on your kitchen tap you’ll want to make sure that you have a separate drinking line. Or, you will use part of the filtered water when you do dishes. - It’s bigger than you think. Measure twice, cut once Overall though, you can’t beat the price and value. And not having to buy tons of bottled water saves you and the environment. ... show more
