I'm not exaggerating when I say I have been looking for a pillow for months now. My favorite pillow I probably had for 20 years I finally had to get rid of due to neck pain. I didn't realize finding a new one would be so difficult. Every new pillow I ordered and tried eithier wasn't comfortable or I would wake up with neck pain. I did find one from my chiropractor that worked but wasn't my favorite in the world. But at least I wasn't waking up with neck pain during my search. Also was getting frustrated with some places requiring return fees or shipping fees to return them. I was reading online reviews and someone did a test of different ones for side sleepers and recommended this. This was my first "adjustable" pillow I got. The inside padding seemed pretty good quality and after 2 nights, I am in love. I'm a side sleeper and still need support, but don't want my head to be turned up too much, or have that bump that so many pillow have in my neck. Super not comfortable. I also didn't like ones where your head has to stay in the middle of the pillow the whole time as I do toss at night or like to find the cool spot of the pillow. I have to admit once it unraveled and fluffed up, I probably took out half of the memory foam inside. But for the first time in what seems like months, I'm excited to lay on a pillow again. It's flat like I like it, and firm, but just squishy enough so not like sleeping on a board and can hold. My wife thinks it's too firm for her but she likes to sleep on super squishy pillows. The one very minor critique is the first night it seemed to get a little warm, but I just put a cooling pillow case over it and all fixed. Last night I feel alseep so fast and woke up with no back or neck pain. Finally!!! Very Happy with this pillow.

The memory foam shreds in this pillow seem like high quality. They give you plenty of stuffing, and the ability to remove or add foam to dial in the level of loft and support you need is great. It's also great that you can sort of mold the foam a little bit...I like to karate chop the pillow in the middle in order to make it a little fatter by me neck to give myself a little bit of neck support, and you can also punch it to give you head a little crater to rest in. It is rather moldable. So here is the downside...however the pillow is when you fall asleep is probably not how it will be when you wake up. The stuffing will shift around in the middle of the night. You also have to constantly refluff the pillow. For me, I like it a little fatter around my neck, so it's almost like a triangle with the fatter side by my neck...but when I wake up, it's like the triangle has flipped, pushing the stuffing to the rear (headboard) side of the pillow - opposite my neck. I usually flip the pillow a couple of times during the night...which really sucks to be honest. I wish the stuffing would just stay in place. And...I don't feel any coolness at all. In fact, I think the pillow is on the warm side....not the hottest I've ever experienced...but there is nothing cool about it. Having said that...I've tried tons of pillows since I got the Saybrook...and all of them have been sent back except the Saybrook. It's definitely a keeper. Once you get it dialed in and fluffed properly, it is really comfortable. The problem is that you will need to keep fluffing it constantly...at least once a day...and I have to keep flipping mine at night, so I never sleep all night long. I just wish there was a way to keep the stuffing from moving around so much.

I switched to the Saybrook from a tempurpedic. I'm a hybrid sleeper (front back and side) and I find this pillow to be most comfortable when on my back and side. It arrives very compressed and takes about 24 hours to fully expand. I removed 6 to 8 handfuls of filling and fluffed the pillow to get a perfect amount of lift for sleeping on my side. I would say this is a medium-firm pillow. I did not notice any smell like some other reviews mention. The overall quality of the pillow is high. I didn't notice any loose threads or glitches in the shell of the pillow. The memory foam chunks are very breathable and can compress and expand just as you would expect memory foam to do. I think this is an excellent pillow for someone who wakes up with a stiff neck or headaches and aren't happy with low-mid budget pillows.

I like the idea that this Saybrook Premium Adjustable Pillow is just that!...adjustable. I have had these two pillows since early October 2023 and I am still adjusting them. When they arrived they were flattened down like a pancake. When they filled out they were very full and hard. In the past month or so I have been removing some of the stuffing periodically in attempt to adjust them to a softness that is comfortable for me, a side sleeper. I have not reached that nirvana yet, but I will keep trying. That is the beauty of these adjustable pillows. They appear to be made of high quality filling and coverings. My only complaint so far is that wispy, fuzzy pieces of the foam inside the inside pillow cover get stuck in the zipper and I have to try to pull it out of the zipper tracks so it will zip open and closed. The outside protective pillow cover case zipper works just fine so far. I will have to share more later after I try the most recent adjustment to remove foam I have made in attempt to soften the pillows more. Stay tuned!
