My bike was just average-looking until I draped the frame with this colored LED rope light. Now, I get compliments like - "cool bike!". The AA batteries (not included) seem to last a long time. You have to be careful wrapping the rope around the frame and securing it. I damaged one set. To secure the frame, I used very small pieces of clear tape. Love, love, love these lights. They are super easy to install, and the colors (I chose rainbow) are so pretty! They show up wonderfully in the dark, and I feel like such a "cool kid" when I'm riding in my neighborhood at night. The batteries are easy to change out as well. The only thing I wish they included is more than one plastic tie-down. On the eve of my 14th birthday, a brake cable came off my handlebars and dropped into my spokes, while I was going down a hill. I flew over the bike and broke my arm*, so I am a little paranoid about things coming off my bike. *after coming home from the hospital, my parents let me open one of my birthday gifts early. It was Billy Joel's album The Stranger. (I'm super old). At least I had Billy Joel to comfort me as I sat there in pain with my cast on. I still love that album, although I the don't care for rest of his music! (Sorry to any BillyJ fans). ... show more

I love these lights. Yes, they are LED lights on a copper wire, but don't seem frail at all to me. In fact, the attachment for the battery pack was incredibly easy to install, then I just wrapped, wrapped, wrapped and next thing I knew I had adorable, colorful lights brightening my path in the gloomy streets of Portland, OR. I'm not only more visible with these, but they bring smiles to faces when I ride by. Love them! So far so good, after a month in the rain no problems at all. Will update if anything changes. UPDATE: One year later, the lights just died. They got dimmer and dimmer, then only one color would come one, then they died completely (not a battery issue). I think $20 is a little much to spend for lights that will only last a year. I did love them and would consider buying them again, but am bummed at their durability. ... show more

Our second set of these we bought to replace the older ones. These are on a lightweight wire you just wrap around the bike frame. Easy to install. And with a previous set we did find the battery box rubber strap breaks eventually but we just strapped it on with a small bungee after it broke. And if the wire breaks the lights before the break will still work (happened eventually on the previous set). Over time the battery box leaked so we eventually replaced with this new set (the bike sits outside a lot and lights lasted a year or two at least). It was great when it worked. I used this in conjunction with the wheel lights and it was great. Unfortunately, unlike the wheel lights; these lights do not have any casing whatsoever. They are just bare wire with LEDs on them and connected to a power supply/control console. They were great for a few months until one of the wires snapped, after that it only worked from the the power supply up to that point. I had my friend solder the wires back together, but a few weeks later a different area snapped. I am planning on using clear heat shrink wrap on it and see if that helps. I will update this if it does. ... show more
