I have reviewed a number of products from Antarctic Star and I have to say I am impressed with their ice makers. I reviewed their clear ice cube maker which was fantastic. I got this for my sister because she LOVES bullet ice, which is basically the small ice cubes you often find in fast food soda and which can also be used as crushed ice in cocktails. The dual usage there is really important as I think it lends this both an everyday value but also one of special purpose. The device itself is not that big, but it will take up counter space. If you want iced drinks daily it won't be an intrusive item on your kitchen or bar top. Otherwise, it is compact enough to store in a cabinet or on top of the fridge. Setup is easy, you just need to remove it from the box and make sure you clean all the components before first use. Using this is very simple. Fill it with water, turn it on, and let it rock. It makes ice quickly and efficiently and you can generate a ton of ice in a single day. Very good for parties or frequent use. The machine is relatively low on noise for the most part, but no ice machine is completely silent (that I have tested anyways haha) and the compressor will get loud at times. However, I did not find it disruptive at all. The ice formed was perfect bullet shape, great for Soda & Tiki drinks! As an expert on ice (check out my other ice related reviews both for molds and machines!) I give this 2 thumbs up and highly recommend.

This machine produces "crushed ice" (which in reality is just really small ice cubes) very quickly. I think from the time I plugged it in until the first little cubes started coming out was about 5 minutes. It filled the tray in less than 30 minutes and the tray is big enough for at least 4-5 glasses of whatever you are drinking. If you keep the tray empty and the water reservoir full, it continues making ice quickly and efficiently. I am a fan of Antartic Star products because in my experience they have been innovative, and quite durable. This ice maker is no different as it is made of quality materials and appears to be a very good machine. I used filtered water for the ice and the taste was just fine. The machine is extremely easy to use as all you need to do is put water in it and turn it on. It even has a self-cleaning mode. If I had to come up with something to complain about, it would be the noise level. The compressor does turn on every so often and I was able to hear it when it did. This is not enough of a reason to deduct a star because I would expect any small machine like this to make an equal amount of noise.

This latest model is no exception and has quickly become a new favorite in our home. This countertop ice maker is an absolute powerhouse of a machine!
