I was very leery to buy these, as the reviews were not the greatest and it was the same complaint over and over. A professional groomer recommended these as they donated a pair to the local shelter. Even with that I was on the fence because of the number of negative reviews, and without warning my husband pushed buy now, and just like that they were on their way. I needed a strong, well made set of clippers for my Pyrenes/poodle mix. They arrived on time, and I put them on the charger and waited for them to be fully charged. The same night I was able to try them out. All I can say is WOW! I had no idea just how much fur he had, there were times I felt like I was shearing a sheep, mind you I have never done that. They glided through his fur like butter, blades were very sharp, so easy to use and yes the battery makes it little bottom heavy, but not to the point that I wouldn't recommend. Honestly if I hadn't read that on a review I don't think I would have even noticed. It had been several months since he was last groomed and after I finished for the night the clippers were still over 90% charged. When you first turn them on there is a slight delay before they actually turn on, but they are quiet. They never heated up or over heated and yes these are expensive, but for my needs they are a great value for the money. If I can save over $100 every couple of months by skipping his grooming trips and these continue to work as they did the first time I will have saved money within the first year. ... show more

I bought one of the first zr2 on the market, it was glitchy like all of them but once we got to know eachother , we vibed well. 6 batteries and a charger later (I groom 7 days a week and 3 different locations on public trans my stuff takes a beating) a nasty fall shorted the switch, which is the glitchy part to begin with. 4 years of reliability though... the clipper was worth the $699 it cost originally. I used to blow through a corded clipper a year to the tune of 300+. It was no question which clipper I was replacing it with while the switch gets replaced on my old one. When the battery works I love the power and convenience of cordless, battery doesn't last long,the charger will tell you its fully charged but when you go to use it, halfway thru a dog it will indicate low battery then shut off. I thought buying 2 different batteries for this model so I can see which one is better both does the same.just frustrating because I've only had the clipper and 2 extra batteries for 2 months. It is heavier on the wrist, so I dont just use this clipper thinking that too would help extend battery life but it hasn't. Im groom 5 to 6 dogs a day and alternate my clippers and im disappointed in Andis for the cost of the clippers and how long the last before you have to replace batteries. And even then the newer batteries dont last long either. And the charger for them sucks. ... show more

Works well. Pricey but it’s an investment piece. We groom our 3 poodles at home every 6 weeks. Easy to use. Noise level isn’t bothersome. Battery works well, but we bought a spare battery to make sure we never run out of battery life while mid project. Definitely recommend buying Andis blades — we find that the off brand blades make for more noise. They do get hot after using for a while so make sure keep extra blades and cooling spray on hand. ... show more

BEST INVESTMENT. these are lightweight and quiet. They charge fast and hold that charge for hours. I use these on a daily basis and I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome… heavy clippers or corded clippers make the pain worse. These are easy to hold and don’t trigger pain for me.

I have four dogs that have thick long fur. I've tried all levels of clippers and this one seems to be the one that actually mows through the thick double coat of my four Aussies. I suggest a 3FW blade which has a wider blade and cuts much cleaner. The next test is longevity which I'll share when I get to a year. Battery life was about 2 hours on a larger dof before it went out which at that point I did wish it had a plug in to finish cut. I had to use a spare to finish the rest while I recharged. This is why I gave a 4 star vs. 5 star. Pricey but worth it since cutting four dogs pays off the initial investment. Quiet motor. ... show more

I should have listened to all the bad reviews about this particular clipper and am kicking myself for it now as my return window just closed. I bought this August 3 so I missed it by two weeks. This is my second Andis Pulse Zr II and my first one lasted for 6 YEARSSSSS but after wear and tear it wouldn’t hold a charge anymore so in a pinch I jumped on Amazon for fast shipping and ordered this one. Upon arrival it looks amazing, fun colors, the charging port is much different, heavy duty and much more sturdy then the last one so I really appreciated that. As soon as I got it I put it on to fully charge like it say to do but right away I noticed it’s different, it’s slower and more sluggish then it’s predecessor even on the 5th speed and when you change it to sleep one and 2 it’s so slow it hardly cuts any hair and it also heats up rather quickly even though it is not working at any speed that it should. As a professional groomer of 20 years this will not do at all, I do not recommend this and I would return it if I had the opportunity. ... show more
