    • Great "Budget" Reader & BT App
This device has become my "go-to" as a "first line of defense" to carry with me on the job. As a handheld, standalone code reader it delivers most of the basic features including reading and clearing codes, live data, sensor readiness and so forth. The app adds a great deal of additional functionality. You have the ability to generate graphs, test the battery, store vehicle profiles, even benchmark acceleration and braking. The Bluetooth connection also offers the ability to update the code reader's software wirelessly. I've used this with vehicles including a 2005 F150 and a 2024 Subaru, and it has delivered acceptable, if not exceptional, performance for an entry level code reader. This includes retrieving the car's VIN, odometer reading, and even state of charge for the hybrid system. Two pluses I note with this unit are the included carry case and the fact the app is not paywalled in any way. These may seem like small considerations but they definitely add to the overall value. The build quality also feels solid and inspires confidence. The reason I call this an "entry level" device is largely due to the lack of features such as ABS, SRS, TPMS and so forth. I have explored the device and the app thoroughly but have found no option to access these systems in any of my test vehicles. I know you can spend a little more and find a handheld unit that will offer these features, but at that point it's probably "too nice" of a unit to simply toss in your tool bag and let it get knocked around at work all day. That's fine if you're just a weekend warrior or if you're a professional with access to more in-depth tools. Like I said, this is a "first line of defense" and will be more than enough for most people in its intended role. ... show more

I was happy to find how very easy it is to use this, it plugged right in and lit up! I have a 2010 Honda Element, and I've had to find places to stop on road trips to find a mechanic that can read the problem code from the warning light. So I thought it would be nice to have one of these, to be able to get more information if I needed it...then even use that to guide what kind of repair shop to go to. There were no warning items at the moment, so I didn't find much to do initially. I wasn't going to install the app at first, because many people in the app store were complaining that it made unreasonable privilege requests (like asking to read files or contacts off your phone). But I decided to see for myself, and what it asked for was just Bluetooth and "Nearby Devices"--which is a specifically constrained form of location knowledge that seems reasonable for something trying to locate a nearby device. I'm glad I installed the app, because that gave access to a lot more information... even reading things like the oxygen sensors. I'm very particular about how many things I carry with me total, but this small device appears to earn its space in the car. The ability to read the codes without an app is great, and with the app it just gets better. Not only can I use it, but be helpful to anyone I come across whose warning light is on. This is a great OBDII scanner to keep in your car just in case something pops up. I actually have a personal story where having this on the go, helped my car. I had a coolant leak and it got fixed, but just as before the leak, whenever I would accelerate my car would sort of stutter and not speed up until I let go and did it slower (This was only at high speeds). I took it back to the mechanic and there were no errors on his expensive scanner. I eventually ended up getting this and one time when I was driving the stuttering got so bad my check engine started flashing for about 2 minutes but then went away. When I got to my destination I scanned it with this tool and it said that cylinder 4 was misfiring. I will say the app was a little overwhelming with all the options but just reading the car was simple enough. I took it back to the mechanic in the following week and he did a scan again, and his scanner did not show anything! (Keep in mind the check engine light went away). I asked him to replace cylinder 4 as this tool had said that was misfiring and he said since his tool didn't show anything he wasn't sure it would fix it. I decided to risk the $150 and what do you know, it fixed the random misfire! It's for that reason I think its good to have a scanner with you just in case its something crucial but the error goes away. The app is also a great addition. Definitely recommend! ... show more

The Ancel AD310 diagnostic device for autos came with the scanner, power cord, access to applications, and instructions. The scanner is small, lightweight, and offers the ability to detect and analyze various diagnostic codes and indicators offered by your car, irrespective of make provided that car is younger than 1996 in vintage. Further, one can use the scanner as an HUD to see engine/other performance in real time. The cost savings for one diagnostic event can be considerable and such was the case with me. Some $55 or so is a small price to pay for some measure of security in this space. Rating : 5 stars! Superb, buy now! 4: Solid, few flaws, good value. 3: Most common.
