I got this as a surprise for my husband, as his bedside lamp was a little too small and non-adjustable, but he's not the type to replace an object that works ok. I wanted something that would be functional for him, and offer a masculine counterpoint to my bedside lamp, which is an aged gilt finish tree shape with a matte black shade. This is PERFECT. It looks clean and modern but offers just enough retro industrial detailing to stand out, it plays well with our masculine/feminine bedroom, and best of all, it works really well for him in terms of functionality. It's not crazy adjustable, but definitely enough to allow for comfort and achieving a good angle of light for reading. He is especially happy with the USB port in the base, which eliminated the need for a cluttered phone charging setup on his bedside table. There are two things to note: I assembled the lamp by myself fairly easily, but did run into one small snag: the wire that runs the length of the arm was much too long, and I was left with perhaps 6" of excess cloth wrapped wire that kept me from attaching the arm to the base. With a little sleuthing I found that I could peel the felt cover off the base and unscrew (small phillips head) the bottom plate, which allowed me to pull the wire through and simply pool the excess in the base. It was a bit of a hassle, but I've encountered worse road blocks in putting together stuff from the internet! The other thing is that in all the product photos and many of the reviewer posted photos the power switch is a toggle on the base of the lamp, but on ours it is a knob on the top of the shade. Not a big deal, but momentarily puzzling! In every other way the lamp is identical to the product photos.

This lamp sparked and smoked in the first few hours I owned it. The wire inside are not insulated properly (cloth not rubber) and created a short because it was able to make contact with the the metal arm. I am glad it didn’t set the house on fire. Do not recommend.

I didn't realize this lamp adjusts (tightens and loosens with a nut) at the 2 elbows. The head where the light resides is adjustable with no nut. The information may be in the description; admittedly, I did not read the description. Those type of adjustments are not an issue - just giving my fellow consumers a heads-up. I like 2 things about this lamp. 1. The head of the lamp is not see through like plastic or a lamp shade. -The lamp sits on the table beside of my man-chair. I can easily flip it on and get the desired amount of light by simply adjusting the head of the lamp. If I want some light, but don't want it in my eyes, I can adjust accordingly. Without a see through shade, the light never has to be in my eyeballs. Light not in my eyeballs is desirable. 2. It has a USB port in the lamp. -I can now plug in my cell phone to the lamp and charge my phone rather than having this cord going here and that cord going there. My man-chair sits off of the living room wall about 6 feet where there is no plug access other than from an extension power strip. I can sit in my man-chair with the phone plugged into my lamp and still use my phone as it charges (rather than plugging cord to power strip which makes the phone cord too short for me to actually hold the phone). Though my 11-year-old son tried to steal my new lamp as it was being unpacked from the delivery box, I put my foot down. This lamp is mine. He made me promise to get a lamp just like this one. Naturally, I told him he would have to speak with his mother about it. Crisis not only averted, but avoided as well.

One issue with the lamp: The overall design of the lamp is the same, but the on/off switch on my lamp is on the lamp head. I am glad that these are for my desk and not my bedside table because having the power switch on the lamp head would be hard to reach, instead of where it was shown to be on the base in the product page's pictures. The USB port is on the front of the lamp with no black square cover, which makes it look nicer and prevents your finger from catching the metal edge of the port. It also had a really ugly sticker denoting the power specs under the usb port, which I took off. Otherwise, I love the lamp, it's beautiful. The base is heavy so it is not easy to tip over. It is easy to adjust it by unscrewing the wing nuts a little to adjust the arms and then tightening them back into place to make it fixed. Feels well made, the metal arms, lamp head, and base. One gripe about Amazon/whoever fulfilled the order. I ordered 2 at the same time and received one within 4 days of the order, the other one was "delayed" with no reason given.... Three weeks later, I ordered another and received it within 4 days placing the order. The delayed one still showed as delayed with no delivery date given. Don't know how that works, but sounds like someone dropped the ball. At least I was able to cancel the delayed one from the first order.

The lamp arrived in perfect condition but as others have noted, the design has changed. The power control is the brass nub at the top of the lampshade instead of a rocker switch at the base. It looks fine but it is less convenient to reach. Also, the cord carrying power from the base to the bulb is is a fabric-covered cord which is too long to neatly fit the lower arm into the circular angle-adjustment mechanism near the base. I ordered two lamps and in both, the covered part of the cord was about 2" too long . I had to curl it up to fit in, you can't shorten it by pulling the excess into the base (in contrast, the upper cord was the exact right length to connect the upper arm to the lower arm). The included LED bulb is very bright. This lamp is good for directed light, but not good for lighting up a room, all the light is focused downward by the opaque shade. The lamp appears to be a quality piece. The parts are heavy and except for the cord, everything fit together well.
