  • It’s cheap, it works
What can I say, bought it during a sale… no problem digging 1/2 inch holes in to concrete when ever i needed. Don’t try to use this tool to dig holes in to blocks, it will shatter them in a second, use a hammer drill or something with less impact or you can ruin your wall as i did with mine

  • Ok for homeowner use
I drill a lot of 1/4" holes in concrete for work. I bought two of these. They are better suited for 4ah batteries. They do a pretty good job at drilling in concrete, but I have basically replaced them in my arsenal in less than 6 months with some Bauer cordless from harbor freight. These will make some good back ups or maybe I'll give them to my dad or brother since I have 5-6 hammer drills at this point. ... show more

  • Good buy
Works as expected I didn’t get for heavy use so not sure on longevity of the tools

  • Very solid, professional grade tool
The first thing you notice when you open this up is how heavy it is. It’s not a little thing to do small projects - it’s a solid piece of machinery. It seems very rugged, you can tell that they talked to people that used these when they designed it. The back (main) handle sits back of the other one that holds the battery pack. It’s clearly designed for easy two handed use on tough bolts or drilling through solid stuff like masonry. The handles are connected underneath, which is nice as you can easily hang it on whatever is handy if you need to use both of your hands for something else. It comes with a 20v battery and charger. It didn’t seem to need more than about an hour to charge, but I have no idea how much juice was in the battery when we got it. I drilled some sample holes in a 2x4 to test it out - it has a nice long trigger pull that lets you ease into a job. You can go really slow to be sure you’re drilling in the right spot before you speed it up. I wasn’t able to test out the hammer aspect. But like I said it’s a solid tool. Given the thought that went into its design, I imagine that it will perform well at that as well. I am very impressed by this tool. Given the quality and comparing it to other professional brands, it is an excellent value for the money. ... show more

  • Skeptic Sold
I'll be honest, this tool was not something I had faith in when I ordered it. I've said on many powertool reviews that I am a diehard DeWalt guy, and I am also a corded tools guy. I've seen too many off-brand tools breakdown, or too many batteries that weren't charged or were just old and worthless to be the guy who can't get work done because my stuff is bad. So when this "Denali" brand cropped up, I was completely prepared to end this thing with a 1-star review, even with some Skil DNA baked in there. I have been pleasantly surprised though. This tool isn't a 20v DeWalt, nor an 18v Milwaukee or Makita, and it doesn't really try to be. Comparing this to a professional grade tool, this is a middling option; it's less powerful and it's battery doesn't last as long. It's also roughly half to 1/3rd the price though. Comparing this against others at it's price point, this is actually one of the better options. For someone that isn't doing all-day concrete/masonry jobs every day, this tool is more than adequate, and delivers solid if not stellar performance. ... show more

  • Decently Compact for Its Function
Since this unit doubles as a hammer drill and a standard drill, I'm pretty pleased with the overall size and design of the unit. While I don't think I'd use it as a standard drill due to its added bulkiness, it's nice to have the function in there. The switch to toggle between functions is easy to access, clearly marked, and requires a lot of travel to change from one function to the other, making it difficult to change accidentally (which is a good thing). Given the inclusion of a 2Ah battery, this device is definitely more so for lighter duty over a short period of time, especially since I still can't find a Denali-branded 4Ah battery sold separately. If you have a lot of other Denali-branded tools, then you'll probably have a lot of other 2Ah batteries, so you'll at least be able to use this longer in that sense. Overall, I'd recommend this more for its hammer drill function. Denali does have a less bulky take on this tool that actually has more function, though the hammer portion of that isn't as effective, and I found that other one to spark more than I'm comfortable with. Assuming my unit was defective and that the sparking on Denali's other "hammer drill" is usually less severe, you may want to go that route if you need a regular drill and rarely use the hammer function. ... show more

  • This is my first hammer drill but I love how it feels, looks, and works
This is my first hammer drill. I’ve only ever had regular drills. So I purchased a set of masonry bits to use with this (after I mistakenly purchased the wrong T Post driver bit). The battery charged up really fast on this units charger, I think it was about an hour, maybe half. The box comes with every manual you can think of. The drill itself has a nice plastic feel to it and is 20 volt. The chuck is a quick release one hand operation unit. The hammer drill can either drill or hammer. It’s 2 separate functions you can switch between. I took the bits outside (obviously in this hammer drill) and drilled a few holes with 2 bits into a chunk of sandstone. It went right through. I then took the slimmer of the two bits I tested and sent it through a chunk of cement within seconds. I’ll be keeping this drill and plan on using it for a fence install in the future. That’s a year from now but I’ll try to come back and update. ... show more
