  • Totally Lovin' This Little Ceramic Space Heater!
I've bought 2 of these Amazon Basics Ceramic Space Heater, Electric Heater for Indoor Use With 3 Heat Settings, Temperature Control, Lightweight (1.7 LBS), 520 w, Black, 5.1"L x 3.5"W x 7"H. WHY I ORDERED THIS: - I needed a new small heater for under my home office desk in a very chilly room. - My older 200 Watt heater just was not giving me enough heat for this winter. - When I saw this 500 Watt Heater on sale, I decided to buy it. THE GOOD STUFF ABOUT THIS: - I am so glad I bought this 500 Watt Heater as it is perfect size for under my desk. - It give off plenty of heat to keep my feet and legs warm. - I love that even though there is no thermostat, you can select a lower Wattage use if you want. - I really appreciate that the controls are on the top of the heater so it is pretty easy to reach them. - I also love that there are red indicator lights that show if it is on fan or heat mode, and if it's set at Hi, Med or Low. THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF ABOUT THIS: - Wish this did have a thermostat, but it's not a deal breaker for me. - I also wish that the little red indicator lights were just a bit larger, as they are hard to see unless it's quite dark. CONCLUSION: - I love and enjoy using this little Amazon Basics Electric Ceramic Space Heater for use under my office desk. - While it was still on sale at around $13, I actually bought a spare one because i love it so much! ... show more

  • Great for small spaces
This is a really good little heater for a small space. It's not loud at all, and puts out a good amount of heat. I've been using it in my bathroom, which gets very chilly in the cold months. It's been so nice not freezing when I get out of the shower. The safety feature of it turning off when tipped over works great. It's small and light so it's really easy to move around. Although it's small and light, it doesn't feel cheap and flimsy. One of the things I really appreciate is that the front doesn't get really hot. So many little portable heaters get so hot, and this one doesn't. ... show more

  • Good But Could Be Better.
After 3 weeks of constant use 16 hours a day, it's working out for my needs. I like it but it has limitations. The Good: 1. Relatively quiet relaxing white noise even on the high setting 2. Small size. Sometimes better to have three 500 watt heaters than one 1500 watt heater 3. Seems well built and has a reliable internal tip over sensor The Could Be Better: 1. If you lose power, it will not turn back on automatically. You will need to turn it back on manually. 2. Not enough difference between low and high heat. 435 watts on low. 455 watts medium. 490 watts high. The heat is almost the same. Only the fan speed changes. Hence with low fan speed, the plastic components overheat and the heater turns off to protect itself unless the room is extremely cold. I need to run mine on high all the time or it will turn off and stay off unless I manually turn it back on. 3. This black heater with dim indicator lights is hard to see on the floor in the dark. I've accidentally kicked it over many times. ... show more

  • Reliable
Works very well for how small it is. I have a 60sqft bathroom and it warms it up well in the winter

  • Not the best
I ordered this small heater for under my desk at work. The size factor was important as was the relatively low wattage. This heater checks the box for both of those issues as it is very small and only 520 watts. The heat output is in line with the low wattage so saying it doesn't get very hot isn't entirely fair as you're, of course, going to get a lot more heat from a heater with 750, 1200, or more watts. My biggest disappointment is with the way you interact with the power controls. There are two buttons on top of the unit that control the heat and the fan. Only, they don't work properly. You're supposed to be able to push one button to light up the fan icon and then the other button works the fan strength from one through three. Push the power button again to switch to the heater icon and then the other button controls the heat setting from one to three. My buttons are exactly reversed. When the fan icon is lit up pushing the second button controls the intensity of the heat, not the strength of the fan. When the heat icon is lit up, pushing the second button then controls the strength of the fan and not the intensity of the heat. It took me a long time to figure that one out as the tiny amount of instructions - and logic - suggested otherwise. Maybe I have a bad heater where some wires are crossed on the inside? The main button that should control the switching of the functions is also the power button and you push it a third time to turn the device off. Only thing is that it takes about a good 5 seconds to actually shut off and sometimes you forget about this and think it's still left on which means you have to sit there and wait to make sure it's truly off. If I had it over to do again, I'd pass on this cheap model; you get what you pay for. I'd look for one that has maybe 750 watts as a nice middle ground and one that has a completely dedicated on/off switch. I'd also look for one that has physical dial for the fan control and a separate dial for the heat control. This fan isn't terrible, but I'm left wishing I bought a different one so my advice to you is to spend a bit more money and get one that is functionally better. I hope this review was helpful for you. Cheers! ... show more

  • Warms small spaces nicely and quietly.
For a small heater with low wattage it heats small spaces efficiently and nicely. No strong odors. And runs quietly. After purchasing one, I purchased two more.
