I already have heaters installed on my walls. They are powerful but very noisy. I need a heater with a lower noise level that I can tolerate running continuously in my home office space so that the heater on the wall doesn't have to run too often. This heater does have a lower noise level compared to the heaters on the wall, and still produces a substantial amount of heat. However, it is not as quiet as I expected after reading others' reviews. I still hear it even when I'm sitting 8 feet away from it. It also gives a plastic smell when I turn it on for the first time. I hope the smell will go away after some time. I would still say it's a very good simple heater for it's price. But if you have a very high standard of quietness, this is not the best solution. This is more my fault than anything for not thoroughly reading the product description and looking at pictures and reviews, but this little heater has no temperature control. It has an on/off button and that is it. You either have full max heat or no heat, which isn't totally convenient if you need a heater to take the chill out of a room while you're sleeping. The people I rent from keep their home freezing and have the air on even if it's like 40* outside, so I block the vents because I don't want my parrot freezing to death, so if they happen to turn the heat on I don't get any heat, therefore my room is cold all the time. Other than the lack of temp control I like this little heater (so far, we'll see if it lasts more than a few months). I also like that it's ceramic (if for some odd reason you decide to explore the annals of my reviews you will see that I don't buy anything with Teflon or PFOA/PTFEs because of my bird). It did have a chemical-type smell when I first ran it, but even ceramic-coated products tend to have this so if you have birds or are chemically sensitive I advise running this in a room where there is ventilation to get that initial factory smell off. I'm exploring options for a small ceramic space heater that I can turn on and leave on at night and that will turn itself off when it gets up to temp, but so many have terrifying reviews that mention melting plastic and outlets catching on fire...So far this heater hasn't done that but I only have it running for short periods of time before I shut it off. If you're using it to take the chill out of a room during the day and/or at a desk (away from flammable things like papers and chemical products) it should be adequate. Also, some folks have mentioned that the front metal grate gets really hot and so it isn't safe for pets. I would never run a space heater that pets can access. My space heater is never on when my bird is out of his cage. Likewise, a doggo snuffing around might get a burned nose if they get too curious about this heater. Just don't run this type of heater if you have humans or animals who could get burned by touching it. But honestly, if you are looking for an inexpensive and small space heater I recommend getting one with temp control, they're around the same price. ... show more

@ People freaking over the cancer warning; It’s the plastic and materials in some of its components. Literally every product you use has the same but California requires the label to be on each item. My guess is Amazon just added to all units in an effort to keep things simple.(instead of string a paper warning in the box for each CA order. My Review; Went with the 120v 520w rectangle version with temp control. I purchased the black one to be nondescript under my cubicle desk and was sent a white one :/ Not the end of the world, just annoying. I love the options for the temp and fan control- gives me a bit more freedom to adjust the heat, rather than it being too hot and having to turn it off, only to turn it back on in a minute. It’s white but it’s under the desk so it’s not super visible. For the job I needed done, it fits the bill. I’ll paint it if it begins to bother me but it’s an ok heater. My office is tiny but cold, very cold. It has 3 walls: one with a door facing the blowing wind (it snows here), one half consumed by a window, and one with an outside wall. Insulation doesn't help, even the furnace doesn't help. It's always 10-20 degrees colder than the rest of the house. I needed a solution but it had to be small. This little heater does a good job of warming up my icebox office. I like that it can bring the temperature up fast. I also like that it doesn't take up too much space. The outer shell doesn't get too warm. The cord length allows for some flexibility or placement. Because it's basically a box blowing hot in one focused direction, I think it would be a good choice for a desk or on a table. I don't see it as a unit I would place on a floor. And I would never leave it unattended. If you're looking for the most basic version of a room heater, this is a good choice. ... show more

I bought this heater for my office. The building and office are freezing year round. I thought it would be just enough to keep my feet warm, but it warmed my entire office. In fact, it got so warm, I had to turn it off. It is small enough, and it cools so quickly, I can tuck it away in a drawer. Though, it would be nice it it had more than one speed, and the switch was on top, instead of the back. Overall, very impressed by the functionality of this heater. ... show more
