This storage ottoman works great for my mom's assisted living apartment. We needed something compact that would also provide needed storage in a small space. We placed it in front of a futon and put all her "not-needed-everyday" games and such inside. So now we have a footrest when visiting, a surface for games/drinks/snacks, additional seating, and of course, storage. It was simple to assemble, if you can even call it that. The product is extremely easy to assemble and is quite sturdy, I have no issues using it as a foot rest. My only complaint is that there is not enough cushioning in top for it to be used a foot rest for long periods of time
