The material is certainly not flimsy, thick enough to keep the draft out. the problem lies with how the magnets are used to attach it to the fireplace. If you're not using the magnets and choose to mount it using other means, then I would definitely recommend this. The magnets themselves are strong and stick well to my metal fireplace frame. However the attachment points are too far apart. They would have to double the attachment points and the number of magnets for the blanket to completely cover the fireplace. There was quite a storm in my area recently and I can feel the draft seeping through the gaps of the magnets. Overall it's a good product and I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, but it's so close to being perfect. ... show more

Year after year i've been losing countless amounts of money by heat escaping out of my chimney. I purchased this magnetic blanket with the upmost skepticism that it was some t ol' straight bull_ish. I was absolutely wrong. This product is super awesome. The magnets stick hard to the metal surface. I no longer feel a draft in that area, and in the winter, the heat did not escape out of the chimney saving me and my family $$$. I rarely write reviews, but ALL fireplace owners need to know about this. You are welcome lol! I referred this product to five of my family members, and they absolutely love it as well. I steamed it before I put the cover over the fire place. It does have very powerful magnets that will literally glue on the fireplace as soon as you put it near. It fits right- just adjust it to your liking! You will feel the difference. I live on the 3rd floor top apartment with vaulted ceilings and the heat was just lingering prior to using this blanket. The product came with only 6 magnets only adhering at top and bottom. The image clearly shows 12 magnets going around all sides of the cover. Without magnets on all sides the heat is still leaking in. My delivery did not come with hooks either. Seems to be a returned item.
